Susan105

Eugene, OR

ROFLMBO!!!! She seriously didn't want that boat!!!

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Must have been my mother...we all love boats...mom wants nothing whatsoever to do with them!!!

(Judi)Portland, OR

That is so funny!!! LOL

Kalispell, MT(Zone 4b)

Congrats Susan! You need to think about bottom paint. When boats are on trailers they don't need much. Here in Montana we leave them in during the summer and haul in the early fall. Most boats have fiberglass and maybe some VC 17 paint. (teflon) Bottom paint is good for boats with bad glass or bubbles but who knows. It slows my boat down too much to use. Enjoy the wind in your hair and the smell of oxygen rich air over the water.

WOOHOO!!! Just waitin to see more pics of her.

Kalispell, MT(Zone 4b)

This is the one I was telling you about Susan. A Ranger 33. But I am NOT going to buy it. I am not going to buy it. I am........

It has a wheel house just like my S2 I had in Seattle. Very nice way to sail. I am not .....

I'm glad somebody is fueling the economy...

Kalispell, MT(Zone 4b)

This boat is only $5,000.00 and it is ready to sail. And yes I am pumping all of my savings into the stock market, Baby toys, Cars, Houses etc. I refuse to believe what I have heard from my president. Though I do live in a worm hole and if it gets bad I can always go back and put it in savings.

It was so d#*%# cold today. I tried to do the 'be conscious about how everything feels' thing again when I walked the dog and put my hands on all the plants. My fingers were nearly frozen so I gave up. So much for existentialism through nature.

(Judi)Portland, OR

I could live in that boat - nice!

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

I was conscious of how things feel today Judi.......it felt Really Cold and my Pockets felt Really Warm!!!

Eugene, OR

Now that looks like a sofer boat. Verrry nice.

I think we should hold off on the outdoor touchy, feely stuff til it gets warmer. I'll be concious of how good my cats feel right now. And their purrs are soothing. LOL

Kalispell, MT(Zone 4b)

I couldn't even get near my plants they are under 3 to 4' of frozen powder. Still Near 0F tonight. It has been nice to nap near the wood stove inbetween cleaning the house for our company arriving Saturday.

Where is that boat, Soferdig????? 5000$??? If you don't buy it you are insane. If you don't buy it, WE should buy it! We looked at that very model so many times and never could find one that had a wheel and the right interior. That is an absolute steal! Dang, it's KILLING me! Plus, that is a fast boat, too. Very nice indeed. Are you serious about that price? It is less than 1/4 of what we were looking at paying this summer. What kind of sail inventory does she have? Is the hull in good condition?

Brrrrr...sofer We're going to 25 tonight and that's more than enough for me. Supposed to only go down to 30 tommorrow. Whoopee! :-(

Better buy that boat quick Steve. I think there's another buyer!! LOL

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

All this talk of boats is making me dream of summer.

Sofer, I sure hope that you unthaw soon. That would drive me nuts.

DIO.... not a good sign that the creatures have started so soon! I've already been putting out slug stuff and seven dust to hopefully slow down whatever has been chomping on my baby pulmonarias.

Susan, glad that we figured out the bird mystery for you. Could you use binoculars and pair them with your camera to get a clear pic of the bird? Or maybe put out a feeder to draw it closer to the house so you could get a clearer picture to add to the birdfiles!! I couldn't find any pics of leucistic birds there. I didn't spend a whole lot of time looking, but it's still obvious that there aren't many. That would be cool! Congrats on the boat. What fun you're going to have!!

Kalispell, MT(Zone 4b)

The Ranger has been setting in a cradle for over 3 to 4 years. The owner left it at the marina and didn't return. The sale would be a sherrif sale and it could go for any amount the minimal amount is 5000 the amount due to the marina. It is kind of big for flathead lake so few have looked into it. I did this summer at a race weekend when I was crewing on another boat. You are right Melissa it is a fast boat. The only weakness is an atomic 4 engine. I have not surveyed it yet but I did a thumping on all of the bottom and all is well. It has a huge sail inventory Spin, 165, 150, 130, 110, Main X2 and Drifter. I have only opened the bags and did not examine the details. I am thinking of getting it and placing it in a marina in Seattle area and use it for a vacation home on Puget Sound. I haven't convinced my DW yet and hope to by this summer.
After sinking my boat in a storm of the century everyone who knows me won't get in the sailboat with me. They think I am jinxed. I think I am blessed I came home. My DW thinks I am dangerous. I have told her that anywhere we sail sinking this one is almost impossible. That didn't work either. LOL

Melissa, I think you put the dollar sign in the wrong place! Are you excited or what???!!! LOL! I think you scared Steve of by bombarding him with questions!

Steve, you're too funny! One more I'm not and it's going to turn into I'm going if you're not careful!^_^ That IS a very nice boat! If we lived somewhere that could warrant a boat of that size, we'd probably buy it in a heart beat. Thanks for thinking of us though!^_^

Thank you for the congrats again everyone. Unfortunately we won't be going to get here until the second weekend of next month, DH has to work that Sat. :-( I was so bummed when he told me that.

Cold? It's not cold here, just 15° here right now and sun shining. I think I'll go put my bikini on and do some sunbathing, what'd ya think? NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL!

Shelly, that's what I was saying about the bird, I don't think there's very many around so nobody could id it. DH said don't tell anyone about it or the Audubon Society will come and condemn the farm cause we have a rare bird here. LOL! As far as the bino's and the camera, I don't think that would work. I'm thinking (IF IT WOULD WARM UP) I could go outside on the porch and sit real still with the zoom on I could get a closer pic. Maybe I'll try today.

TTYL.

See Steve, I told you you would buy it!!!!!^_^ That would be neat if we could all get together some day and sil together, but as I said before we'd look like a baby (inferior) next to you guys.
I forgot to mention about the bottom paint, DH had to paint the bottom of the 17' O' Day yrs ago. He made sure that the bottom was sanded real well and smooth as a baby's bottom before he painted it. He used a marine bottom paint.

Wait - I thought the president was saying that you should pump your savings into the stock market. So you two are thinking alike.

Kalispell, MT(Zone 4b)

Your president has never said to pump it into anything. He has said nothing but how dark the present is. Buy stocks NOW. You will be sorry. I invested $4000 in a single stock (not going to tell you which one) and sold it today 2 weeks later for
$5145.00. The market is swinging wildly and you can buy low every day and sell higher in a month or so. I have low comissions on buy sell so it works.

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

Not true, Steve. He said the market has some good deals. Sounds like that proved true for you. Congratulations.

Kalispell, MT(Zone 4b)

Maybe he did I guess I should follow his lead and borrow money now and spend, spend, spend. LOL

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

lol.... good luck you two!

Susan.... I can't wait to see if you come up with a clear picture. Hopefully the weather will cooperate!!

Bend, OR(Zone 5a)

Shelly, I went out and tried to get a pic of that little stinker and it was like it knew what I was doing cause it flew up into the Elm tree as high as it could so I couldn't get a clear shot. Besides, it's still cold out there! GRRRRRRRRRR!!!

Steve, I'm sorry people won't get on a boat with you now. You poor thing, you should've done the renaming ceremony! LOL!

Susan105

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

You'll get a pic of Susan, you're tenacious!! Maybe it's used to seeing others trying to get pictures! :-p

Bend, OR(Zone 5a)

You know me all too well!!! LOL! Maybe that's it!!!

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

tee hee

Bend, OR(Zone 5a)

Cute!

(Laura) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Hello, I should be back on simi-regularly now. We got everything moved and are now unpacking. We've gotten to the point of having a livable maze rather than having to "camp" out, but we still have a lot of work to do.

(Laura) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Here's my new yard http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/962115/

Well, that's an awesome sail inventory, Steve! If the sails look as good as the boat does, I'd say that's really an excellent buy, even if it goes for 10,000$ rather than 5. Mike and I really hoped to buy a Ranger 33 but we just couldn't find one that fit the bill for a price we could afford. There was one up in Seattle that we would have bought instantly, but it had a tiller and that was a deal breaker for me. We're really lucky we found the Cal because inventory in this area for a boat that size in the price range we could afford is now just about nonexistent. I went to Yachtworld's website and did a search and came up with 5 boats, 2 of which were for sale last summer, so they have not been sold yet. So I hope you get the boat and your dw agrees you need to keep it in Seattle so you'll have a place to stay when you are here.

And by the way, I thought the president said that now is the best time to invest. Glad you are doing so.

(Judi)Portland, OR

Steve - I don't know how to tell you this but he's your president, too. We had to accept the previous president (very reluctantly on my part) so now it's your turn. Give him a chance. He inherited the mess!

Kalispell, MT(Zone 4b)

I like you before choose to distance myself from the current one. He has all the chance I can give him. Inheritance is something given down and this one has no owner but the American desire to consume way before they have the money. That is not a leadership problem rather a bad economic decision.

This message was edited Mar 12, 2009 9:46 PM

(Judi)Portland, OR

No No No I don't wish to distance myself from the current one. I certainly wanted to distance myself from the LAST one. So what would you suggest we do to fix the mess?

Kalispell, MT(Zone 4b)

Work hard 40+/wk doing what you love to do. Then live on less than what you earn and do without until you can afford the things that are necessary. Save money for the tough times, invest well, and help neighbors when they need help.

(Judi)Portland, OR

Well that is how I live my life but I meant what would you suggest to get the country out of the mess?

Kalispell, MT(Zone 4b)

If people would just do a little of the above entitlements would not be, If people didn't buy what they couldn't afford banks would be fluid, if people would save $ banks would have lots of money to loan to people who want to start and build business, if federal governments would have been limited in USA in our early days States would be able to handle the "big problems" because they know their needs. I don't feel that any government as big as our Federal Government can do anything to make things better. "Government's first duty is to protect the people, not run their lives.. " yes I am a hands off person. Ronald Regan proved "The problem IS the government". This I all say with respect for our president and wish for his success.
