My Orchid tree is not budding. I bought the Orchid tree in the Fall, and planted it. It lost all of its leaves during the Winter which I expected because it is a deciduous tree, but now it is March 9 and it still has no leaves and no buds. I checked its limbs and it is still alive, but I am concerned. Does anyone know what I can do to encourage its growth/budding? If so, thank you.

Orchid trees
I wouldn't worry yet--I have a Bauhinia tomentosa which is hardier than some of the other Bauhinia species and it lost its leaves this winter and hasn't started to bud out yet, and I've found in cases like this that the less hardy something is overall often the longer it takes to show signs of life in the spring. There's really nothing you can do besides be patient. I'm not sure which species yours is, but if it's one that's just barely hardy in your area then it may have suffered some damage over the winter which could make it slower to come back as well.
