March III Blooms

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

I think I must have that seasonal affective disorder (LOL)
When I lived in zone 6 I had gro lights in every room of the house and under every counter.........it was all that kept me sane.

I had kids who loved to snow ski.......... learned to bundle up in layers.........

Wytheville, VA

Gail if you cant find Victorian Brocade, I have several good starts of it. No bugs!
Leyla bloomed for me today. Thought i'd lost it!

Chigusa??

Thumbnail by kivit
Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

I found it but it only had 2 leaves, so I am sticking one........I got it from a lady on ebay who sends the tiniest plants in the world........not doing that anymore. Thanks Kivit.........

Kivit.......Chigusa is a hot pink..........hot hot of a pink is she?

Havent a clue on this one! Any guesses?

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

why don't you have names, Kivit...........I try real hard to keep names, but still mess up often.......

Wytheville, VA

then it is not Chigusa. It is the pink in the picture.

I have lost many labels becuase I have spent the fall & winter getting bug free.
I have used BA which burned a lot of my plants because I didnt dilute it enough. I have used an orgnic spray from Gardens' Alive. The bugs ignored it. I have put Marathon in every pot which got rid of everything except the mealies.
Then I triedseveral sprays specifically for mealies but they werent effective. So I finally came to Enstar II which I used as a dip-twice 7 days apart. Looking good!
Through all of this, I lost almost all of my plants. I have three adult plants left from about 45!! Several people were kind enough to send me leaves, plus I stuck leaves from everything i could before it died. so now I have lots of trays of starts. with all of htis dipping & sticking, many labels were misplaced or lost.

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

I know how hard it is to keep up with names...........I get surprises every day.........

I go to Walmart and buy a mini blind for 3.00 and cut them in half and then cut in lengths for markers...........very inexpensive way to keep up with names.

Here is a new Give Me A Dime (thanks Jim or Marion)

I am finding that if I leave them in solo cups long enough I can take cuttings of leaves to stick.
Here she is in her solo pot.

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

JUst sit there at night watching "American Idol" (LOL) and cut away on mini blinds.............they make great markers and I even snip them in an arrow shape to put them in the plants........

Kivit your strep at 8:06, the pretty delicate pink one is Emily. I just love her. I don't recognize your next one though. Bummer about all you've been through with the plant issues!

Dimmer, awesome on the house deal!!

GoldLeaf the sinningia that is so big was grown from seed called Hummingbird Mix. The leaves are beautiful and velvety but they drop off as it continues to grow so I have a long naked stem with pretty leaves at the top, no blooms right now. It has been stingy with blooms all along really.

I had DH snap a quick picture of me with it, as you can see my plant room is also my grandkids play room!

Karen your Alsobia bloom is to die for! I love those blooms and it is the one branch of the gessies that I can not grow to save my life! Others don't like me much but I have never even squeezed as much as one bloom out of an alsobia. ^_^ I haven't forgotten you for a Helter Skelter leaf when it warms up!

Gail I just can not believe the size of your Whirlpool begonia! Even dumped on the ground it dwarfs my mother plant! LOL Obviously TX agrees with her! It is two below zero here this morning and has been colder than that this week so I imagine that is the difference.

B Blue Water is coming into her own right now, love these small blooms.
