My husband succumbed to my whimpering and got me some of those tulips from COSTCO that grow in tall vases with water only.
Here's the thing. Once they bloom it implies that you just get rid of them. They're bulbs.....can't they be planted or something? Seems such a waste to just toss them.
Also. Are there other bulbs I can grow that way?
Thanks, Ginger
Tulip Bulbs From Costco...What Now?
Hyacinths, some daffs. If you are welling to take the chance if they did not get too much water on the bulb I have planted mine and they have grown
D
Sure. Any chance is better than tossing them! Thanks for the info on the other types. I am headed out now so think I'll try them.
Oh. When I plant them do I do something special like cut them way back? Or just cut off the flowers and plant greenery and all?
Thanks, Ginger
Just cut off the flowers. They need the greenery so they can store up food for next year, then let the greenery die down naturally. Plant them as soon after they bloom as you can.
Karen
Thanks!
I couldn't find any daffy or hyacinth bulbs but I did find bunches in pots for $1 each...along with some crocus. I bought a lot. Also bought some fresia bulbs to see if they will grow in water like the tulips....Who knows. They were cheap.
