Ah....lies!
Chocolate Basil? Still searching...
Linda,
You hurt my feelings--
I think I'll just go to my room-get in bed-cover my head- and munch on my chocolate basil covered crackers.
:)--
Cannot even count on a fellow Texan anymore-- :(
But that's my story and I'm stickin to it.
Hey all, I have no intention of sharing my CB seeds, in fact i'm keeping them in my bank deposit box. The bank has considered hiring a guard to just watch over those seeds.
Happy New Year all
Vickie
I'm hiding too ! Heavy frost/freeze surrounding me on all 11 acres, disguising Central Florida as some "other" part of the country...no one will know where to find me and my "supposeded" CB seeds...
Mexico is looking good at this point.
mjs,
Never fear----Your weather is simply due to "Global Warming" but Al Gore is riding to your rescue at this very moment---
Quick! Mail me the CB seeds so they will be saved--They emit CO2!!!
:)
HA ! I think this is a ruse to recover CB seeds, Global Warming has apparently missed Florida ! Al baby has left us out in the "cold".....;-~
I'll be back in a few days when it starts acting like Florida...till then, me and my CB seeds will be hiding under the covers !
Good grief--I might just be forced to crawl under those covers to get those CB seeds--Oh no!-LOL--
Al Gore is a bigger idiot than I am--But then again he made VP and I did not.
I'll vote for you!! Wanna know where you can send my seeds?I'LL GET YOU A VOTE PER SEED!!
Vickie
Too Late ! I am in hiding with my CB seeds in the warm forests of South America ! NOT coming back till Florida starts acting like Florida again.
Political corruption is rampant with the CB party I see ! What next? Bail outs to greenhouses with CB shortages? Well, actually that may be a good idea!
mjs--I have spent a lot of time in the South American jungles--Might just find you and mug those seeds--:) With Bigfoot's help of course
Vicki--is that a bribe offer? Shame on you --that was illegal prior to the last election. :)
Durn Right!! Thats not a cuss word is it?
shhhhhhh, back from South America......found out I will be on assignment in Mississippi in early March, striking distance for
a Chocolate Basil raid in TX.....I may need reinforcements tho...heard Big Foot is lurking there.
I volunteer for a strike in Texas. You don't have to worry about Big Foot in Texas. But don't take your eyes off those Texas rangers. OR the Cowboys.
Where do you think the famous Texas Ranger ( "Big Foot" Wallace) go his nick name?
Or his pardner ("Little Basil Foot")
Another lurker here - this thread is great!!
Robin - here is the article from the Feb/March 2010 Herb Companion . . . They even mention your name - lol...

Kelly
They did'nt say it can't be found in another continent or country. Just not here. There is still a spark of hope.
Back to Google and Ask and who knows where.
Vickie
LOL! And mj doesn't even need a saddle. Victor should be scirred!
On the serious side,I've found a new lead from google.
In the July 2009 Texas Monthly
is an article about Cool Coctails. A bartender,Tyler Trehorne at the 2900 Kitchen/Lounge in El Paso Texas gives a receipe for Basil Julip. It calls for 3 leaves of chocolete basil. He also mentions he grows his own herbs.
Link to article
www.texasmonthly.com/2009-07-01/webextra2.php-
last night i was able to get the article. Today not.
It should come up with a google search of chocolete basil.
Thanks
You're welcome! :-)
Well, whatever's in it, it LOOKS YUMMY !
I just emailed them--
"Dear Mr Treyhame,
Is there really such a thing as Chocolate Basil?
Regards,
Dr. Russell Page"
I will let you all (y'all) know the results.
If it looks legit Bigfoot and I will make the trip to El Paso.
And yes we will share. :)
If Chocolate Basil exists there is hope for the world! That is why so many hunt for it. Not because it is so unbelievably fragrant and delicious....it may be, but that is not the reason. It is because it could give us hope for all those other wonderful things that we can believe exists out there...if only Chocolate Basil is out there!
Vortreker, Thank you for getting in touch with this man for all of us.
Linda, You are so right. Kinda like the unicorns!
Dear plant psychiatrist,
Why is it that I have a daily-overwhelming urge- to go to my Chocolate Basil patch--lay down in it "wheels up"-roll around in it, nip at it's leaves and purr? Is it the equivalent to Catnip for humans?
If so--then this will be indisputable proof that Bigfoot is human--'cause he does the same thing.
Chocolate basil ? Do you think she knows and isnt telling?

I never heard from the folks in El Paso--cannot find their email right now but when I do I'll post it.
Oh my, this thread is starting to resemble "the picture dog"
Let the search continue!
oK--They ignored me. --http://goto2900.com/contact
My thinking is that most chefs refer to Basil leaves dipped in chocolate as "chocolate Basil"
This is the URL to contact these guys and settle it.

Ok folks-
I will not let this thread die until someone convinces me that Santa is dead and the Easter Bunny went to the funeral.
Big foot and Loch Nestle just grunted and nodded in agreement.
Saw this posted in the Classsifed sections of an obscure Tx town.
“Wanted” Guide and assistants for a raid, err “tour” of gardens containing “Chocolate Basil”
Must be adept at digging up plants in the dark errr, identifying rare species of Basil.
Must not mind traveling at a fast pace, encounters with Big Foot or Loch Nestle.
Utmost secrecy required. Respond to userid $%^&*# @Dave'sGarden.com
Wonder who this could be ?
LOL--Wonder who that could be?
Gasp !!!! surely you wouldn't suspect MOI !?
mjs--
It pains me to announce that we are no longer friends--
Never-ever-ever-ever refer to a town that grows chocolate basil as "obscure"
Especially if it is in Texas.
You really hurt Big Foot's feelings---I may have to feed him some chocolate basil to cheer him up.
My buddies--Santa, the Easter Bunny, Loch Nestle and the Tooth Fairy are less sensitive but even they are sadden by your comments, and have pledged more determination to guard the Chocolate Basil patch from Florida raiders until Big Foot recovers his composure.
They assure me that a Floridian riding bareback on a horse, or driving an old Dodge, will never be a serious threat to our "patch"
:)
