I tried using Miracle-Gro African violet potting mixture and even with very moderate watering, they develope root rot and die after a couple of months. What is the best potting medium to use for a healthy African violet??
African Violets
Does that one have the moisture crystals in it? If it does then I'd find something without those since they make it easier to overwater. Otherwise if there aren't any moisture crystals it should work fine so I would investigate your "moderate" watering before you worry about finding a new potting mix. Are you actually checking the soil before you water or are you just doing it on a particular frequency or when the top looks dry? If you're not testing by sticking your finger down into the pot a little ways it's easy to overwater without realizing it. Or if you have them in a pot that doesn't have a drainage hole or if you let the water drain into a tray under the pot and then leave them sitting in that tray that can contribute to root rot as well.
