Hey, Lali. It's your day. Have a good one. Hope to see you very soon.
Happy birthday, Begoniacrazii
Thank you all for the great bouquet of flowers and birthday wishes!!
So far a wonderful day! The sun came out and I got a little gardening in this morning and then DH came home with a basket full of 1-Day old chicks! They're the cutest things ever!
3 Buff Orpingtons and 3 Delaware, he tried to bring home Black Marans but they hadn't hatched just yet. Maybe tomorrow.
Zu, we'll have to try Frizzell Enos for Marans next time we're out and about. If we ever get past this rain for more than a day! (I know, I know we desperately need it!)
Thanks again all!!! Big hugs all around!
Oh, Lali, is that one of your baby chicks? What a precious little thing. Yes, we must go to Frizzell Enos. It's time to buy some bags of alfalfa pellets too.
Hope the rest of your day has been as good as the start.
Saw your name on the birthday list so I'm wishing you a very happy birthday
How sweet they are!
Awwwww!
Thank you again everyone! DH just came home and said I have one hour to get ready for a surprise dinner he's taking me to. Must run.... I'll let you know the details later! Especially the desert part!!!
hugs to all!
Lali
We need a report!
Well the whole family arrived and we had a fantastic dinner. I had the asparagus risotto - which was divine! And my best friend made me my favorite meyer lemon cake, made with her husbands home-made (and home distilled, yes, as in moonshine!) meyer lemon limoncello! Even the frosting has limoncello in it! We also had a few orders of pana cotta with raspberry puree and caramel drizzled over it. It was like heaven!
All in all a fantastic night, best part - both of my kids and my best friend's son (who is like my own) were there at the same time. A feat in itself to get everyone together!!
Thanks again to all
quick story on the moonshine. Late last summer, my Asian pear was so heavy with fruit (poor pruning on my part, laziness!) and several branches snapped with about two bushels of ripe to semi ripe pears were about to go to waste. My best friend's husband is a winemaker here in the Napa Valley, so I called him to see if he wanted the pears to make wine. He did! and Asian pear wine he made! Then he decided to distill it and came up with some ferocious asian pear moonshine! From that he made the meyer lemon limoncello.
Sounds like the perfect evening, Lali.
Oh my gosh Jasper, you're a riot!
Zu, it was a great and perfect evening! And it's still lingering, just got home and had myself a nice hunk-o-leftover-meyer-lemon-moonshine cake!!! Yummers!
