Chilli Plant

Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom

Hey
I have another Chilli plant question. I have a seedling Chilli plant which I planted when it was a seed. It's now about 2" tall but only with it's inital first set of leaves. I have seen chilli plants in the garden centre which are smaller with more leaves. Am I doing something wrong?

Thank you

It's reaching for light.

So it's still fine. I just wanted to make sure since they all looked way more bushy than my poor seedling haha.

But you do need to get it into better light, or it won't develop properly. good luck!

Thanks. Mine are in a North facing window but I do have lights for them. My bf has some in a South facing window and mine are doing far better than his.

I don't know about the climate where you are, but if you could move them out to a protected area in the shade if the temps are well above freezing, the light would be great for them. The sun would burn them because they are used to being inside. Shade outside is brighter than a window location inside. Then when it gets warm, gradually move them into the sun; otherwise they will burn.

I'm in zone 8 or 9 - the temperature today is around 3oC and we are maybe forecast snow again this week. Forgetting about the snow would it be ok to put it out somewhere for a few hours when its 3oC or would you recommend it would need to be hotter?

My back garden is North facing but it would get some sun in the very back corner and front garden is South facing but we have a school just a few doors away and the kids being destructive would ruin it if they saw it so it's not an option for the front garden.

A few hours aren't worth your trouble. Unless you have a warm spell for several days, it's just as well off where it is.

Thanks :).

I've moved it to a south facing windowsil to see if it helps; it's pretty gray. When I get in from work I'll put it back in the propagator to keep warm again.
