I was at one of the big box stores, slowly walking past the seeds (which I do not need any more of,but gotta check 'em out anyway), and saw a pack of Iris rhizomes in the most beautiful blue. I just had to try them, though I'm sure the color in the picture isn't what I'll get, but anyway, it's a gorgeous color, and I just had to give it a try. Well, the Iris rhizomes are showing a bit of green sprouts. What do I do with them? We've got frozen ground and snow, and a ways to go before we get warmer weather. Are they OK left in the package for a while, or should I pot them up. If I pot them up, do I keep them inside the house, or put them in the basement which is considerably cooler?
I've really got to stay away from these things when I'm out shopping!
Any advice is appreciated.

Packaged Iris.... What to do...
If it were me I'd pot them up and stick them on a windowsill, just for the blooms!! You can always transplant them into the garden when the weather warms up.
I agree with threegardeners. I have some iris' indoors and they are flowering right now. I also have iris in the garden and they have poked through the soil by a couple of inches and I'm in zone 7 or 8.
Great, thank you both for the advice. I'll get them potted up today after work!
