Wow - are you watching the news?

We can't sit back and bring one or two to justice, the people who perpetrated the act (in the planes) are already dead, this is war I am not an advocate, but the greatest country in the world has been attacked and we cannot just wait for the criminal justice system to go to work, we must act

The ripple effect of this is also dramatic. Here in our town most banks are closed because they can't access their centers. Grocery stores can't cash your check or take your ATM card. Gas stations don't do credit. I just mailed a package to CA. Because FedX is down, it won't go out. Friends are scheduled to go on a cruise. That is on, but they can't get a flight to go there, and trip insurance has so many grey areas that they may lose it all. My daughter works for a travel agency; couple has been planning this trip to Paris for months, money paid, etc. sorry. Small things in the scheme of things, but very disruptive to the country as a whole.

The gas prices here in michigan are jumping and people are lined up down the roads. Rumors of 5-6 dollars agallon and rumors of no gas sales are driving people to the pumps-will this create a shortage!!!!
1.89 confirmed from 1.56 this morning
rumors of 3.00 north of me
is it like this elsewhere?

They've just hit Afganastan!

Kabul has been hit by multiple detonations and fires, seems like a missile attack, but nothing is confirmed by who yet.

Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)

The missile attack in Afgahnastan seems to be part of the ongoing civil war over there, no US involvement. Be careful what you say please. And let's not panic. Prayers, yes, lots of prayers.

Gas lines are being gaurded by police in our area. The gas price scare has everyone rushing to the pumps. We are a small town, I can only image what it is like in large towns. God bless us!

In Australia we have just woken to the news. I cannot believe such a thing could happen. My most profound sympathy to all americans. Courage.

200 firemen are reported missing in New York. We must commend these people who are able to carry out such a tremendous task. It's a hard enough matter to put out fires, it's an even harder endeavour to have to search and find bodies. Let us think and pray quietly for all those involved in this terrible carnage - the living and the dead. We look to God for courage and comfort and we pray that this will never happen again.

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

One gas station in Columbus raised their prices to $6/gallon, but shortly dropped it back down to under $2. The reason? "We didn't want a run on our gas station." The gas companies are planning on people freaking out and bombarding the gas stations; they're raising their prices to gouge us and we're flocking right to it. Is there really an issue of gas not being available? I'm not so sure. But now that people are freaking out and filling up, you can bet the gas companies are going to take full advantage during a tragic time. That's sad.

Off my soapbox now. Everything else just seems so impotent. Thanks for letting me vent.

Just a thought..has anyone heard from our New York people? I had trouble calling my family until the wee hours, but PirateGirl and Will Creed both live somewhere in the city.I believe Will lives in Lower Manhattan, but not as low as the WTC.I have had one sleepless night here, but I finally found out that my best friend who works across from the WTc on Broadway is o.k.!!!!Now I can sleep.
