Starting a garden, need ideas!

Clarion, PA

I am going to be putting in a small garden this year. What are some easy to grow vegitables? I know I want to do some heirloom tomatoes, cucumbers and green peppers. I would love to plant strawberries but that seems a little complicated. There are so many different varieties of seeds, I think there were over a hundred varieties of the tomatoes alone. I don't want anything fancy, just some run of the mill veggies. If anyone has advice I would really appreciate it.

One of my favorite vegetables that was easy for me to grow was broccoli. One good thing I learned is that after you harvest the main head, the plant will continue to send out little mini heads which are quite tender. Even though I planted only a few plants, we had several weeks of good eating, and it was some of the best broccoli I've had.

Another veggie that is supposed to be easy is zucchini. However, I must admit the one time I tried it, I never got any fruit. It grew and blossomed very well, but nothing ever developed. Maybe someone has an explanation.

Maybe it didn't blossom because the bee population didn't do their job!

actualy strawberys are not complicated at all except for mulcing them for the winter with hay or leaves to keep them alive but the can be invasive which means you would need a seperate garden . I recomend ozark beuaties as they are desiese resistant and grow and produce quickly i planted six plants last yr and in the fall i had over twenty they are actualy quite easy to grow
