Daily Pics Vol. 183

I'm visiting from the Butterfly forum, but I thought you guys would like to see the picture of my Sandhill Cranes. They wander through the neighborhoods and are not the smartest of birds. Seriously, I've had them cross the road in front of me and they are not afraid of horns or moving cars. I've had a pack of five visit my yard for the past few weeks. Today someone was honking at them so I went and tried to herd them further into the neighbor's yard so they would get out of the road. This one took a liking to me!

Here's the five of them. They have the most bizarre sounding call, too. I can hear it inside the house. At first I thought someone was being attacked, but now I'm used to it.

Amazing cranes! How do they cope with dogs? They wouldn't last long here.
