Wow! Awesome pictures everyone! Things are for sure warming up!

Rita, lol, we certainly have VERY similar tastes for plants. Abutilon is my favorite winter blooming plant! I took some pics this weekend of mine and will post soon.

Joeswife, I absolutely love your potted plants combo!

Dalethegardener, what is that nice purple clumping plant paired with the mondo grass?

Sunshine,

Your orange flower is Ornithogalum dubium http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/54047/ it is from S.Africa and it grows during the cool season and goes dormant in summer. Keep it dry in summer for best results. Now would be a good time to fertilize it.

Crinium are blooming again>

Hetty, thanks but I didn't think it was tulip.
Dale, thanks for the ID and info.

Well, from here it kinda looked like a tulip ;-)

Tampa, FL(Zone 10a)

There are some species tulips that have clusters of flowers and long narrow foliage, instead of the more often seen singles. The photo of O. dubium just doesn't have anything for scale, makes it hard to tell.

LOL RJ..are you my twin? ( jkidding) The bottle brush is awsome, and Dale.. I don't know what half of those plants are( well maybe most all of them) but they sure are gorgeous!
Dutchlady: your bloom is beautiful!

Portland, TX(Zone 9a)

RJ do you have a red plumbago? I wanted to know what this looked like but all I can find are pictures of the flower. I want to know if the plant itself resembles the blue plumbago. I just pulled up a blue a couple of weeks ago cause it was too unruly and it was located right next to our a/c unit. I like what the red flower looks like I just don't want it if it gets like the blue one does.

RJ,

Kalanchoe luciae http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/165647/

I usually grow the common florist type Kalanchoe>

Portland, TX(Zone 9a)

dale, I like the double flowering variety they've come out with.

Amelia Island, FL(Zone 9a)

I had some of both the Kalanchoes. I don;t think they've survived our many freezes this year. I covered them, but....we'll see. They look pretty bad right now.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

I love Kalanchoes.. I have both types florist kind inside and hardy out.. I cover them outside with leaves a foot high and they just go crazy come spring..

They are a good winter plant here>

I love things that bloom when my plumies are just sticks :-)

Desoto, TX(Zone 8a)

Speaking of plumies, I put mine in a paper bag and laid them on a shelf in the greenhouse this year. They are about 3 feet and one even bloomed last year. Got them in the co-op. When should I consider putting them back in a pot?

Christi

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

ah....the Kalanchoe ..they don't like much water do they?

Yes, I have the red plumbago...I called it phlox...phlobago

It looks similar Partty as the blue. I'll take a photo of it ..or well...you can see it on sat. They only bloom in spring..not like the blue bloom all the time.

Christi, the plumeria can go back in a pot when all danger of frost is past, unless you have a sheltered space to keep them in.
Kalanchoe like full sun and low water, very much like my plumeria :-) One of the perfect companion plants, along with Crown of Thorns who are also blooming profusely now.

Tampa, FL(Zone 10a)

Crown of Thorns - what a sad name to give such a beautiful plant.

Thumbnail by DaleTheGardener

I fully agree.
Cool picture, Dale.
