Buffalo, NY

Hey Placenciarieta they actually had it in their Holiday 2008 catalog under Carica papaya 'TR Hovey'. You might want to send them an email to see if they'll have it again and when. It was in their Gold Leaf Collection but not now. It was about 29.95 for a 4" pot.

Cape Coral, FL(Zone 10a)

Good morning!!!
RJ, love your jungle, pink magnolia & your chron.
Placenciarita, your plants look very happy.

Planter56, I will take a look again. I would like to replace the tall papayas with the Dwarf 'TR Hovey'. I wonder what they taste like. I wish I could find some seeds, that would be much easier. Thanks.

sunshinesw, good morning. Actually my poor plants are dying to get out into the sunshine and fresh air. It is kind of tough growing them in the Gh, I am envious of the Houston and Florida climates.

joeswife, we need a update on your mistery buds, How are they coming along? I would like to know what they are.

Rita is that a hanging basket of calibrocha??? It's pretty. I did my hanging baskets this past weekend.

Desoto, TX(Zone 8a)

Rita, it is supposed to 32 here Saturday night. yuk

San Diego, CA(Zone 10b)

Rita, thanks for the info on the Siam Ruby. Glad to know I have the "real thang"!!

phughes, it is a calibrocha, got it from the mark down rack last fall at Lowe's. It has been blooming ever since. This jasmine is an early bloomer too, the fragrance makes you want to run for the nearest exit (too sweet)

LouC, I have my propaine tanks full and ready, at least we had a few days of almost normal temps.

robcorreia, I love that brick pathway, it seems as if you have quite a few plants in buds and blooms. What is that vine that is covered in buds?

Thumbnail by prita
Portland, TX(Zone 9a)

Gosh Rita you have so many different things blooming; I think I could live out in your greenhouses. So pretty.

San Diego, CA(Zone 10b)

Thanks Rita. I don't post this side of the garden too much over here as most of my tropicals are in the backyard. My hubbie and I built this pathway ourselves last year.

The vine is a pink jasmine (jasminum polyanthemum). You would probably also think it too sweet, but I marvel at the fragrance!

Robcorreia, great job on that path!

Robcorrea, it seems as if we have the same taste in plants, we have a little of everything.
You all did a professional job on the pathway, I like the gentle curve of it.
My jasmine is in a enclosed Gh, I bet that if it was out in the open it would be a very pleasant fragrance. I'm ooking forward to seeing your pink jasmine in full bloom, they are beautiful.

Sunshinesw, Your Hoya bloom is so delicate looking.
I tilled my tomato bed this afternoon. The cherry tomatoes are looking delicious, I wish that I could reach out and pick one. yum

We've had more freezes this year than we've had in the past 5 years. I'm hoping some of my plants (esp my Jade) make it.

I've seen green popping on the Salvia and my rose bush.

Brooklyn, NY(Zone 7b)

Lovely picture but the difference between being just above freezing and just below... is a whole bunch as far as things growing ls there..... Dale... you're only 10 degrees warmer than it is here.. but your beds and plants look months ahead of it here..
My My.. it sure makes it difficult to try and think of moving south.. there doesn't seem to be anywhere I'm not going to be bothered by the freezes... at least here I deal with it once.. in moving everything inside.. in Noveber...The thought of having a jade vine out and making it.. though...MMMMM.. sure sounds tempting...
Not to mention.. not having an auto inspection requirement... in FL ot AL ..MS.. ect... which cost me about $4500.00 last week here...alone.. as the automatic transmissionwhich was a bit sticky on shifting up.. had to be rebuilt as it left a code on the car's computer about the difficulty.. and it has to be clear of codes to get a sticker... I was perfectly happy to speed it up slightly and let off the gas to coax it through to second and third... I'd been doing it for a year... like a manual / automatic .. but that's no good in the __ __ __ NY state.. talking about the auto repair industry in bed with and writting the laws with the state.. to the detriment and inslavement of the populace.. .. for thoes old enough to remember when the governmant was there to serve us... not the people here to serve the state.. if you don't believe it's the other way around.. just wait till you're getting your traffic ticket.. or other municipality rewarding infraction ...garnishment.. for behavior that was perfectly acceptable for decades before ... their money problems.. two parties... poooo.... it's us and them.. Guess I'm being driven to Libertarianism..

Florida, as long as you're far enough South.
I haven't had any freezes this year Gordon! And real estate is at rock bottom.
:-)

Amelia Island, FL(Zone 9a)

Dutchlady - I'm as far northeast FL as one can get without being in GA. We normally get freezes in the winter, but this year it's been almost a weekly occurence.

DH just sent me a text stating he had to de-ice a plane this morning at JIA.

I've had a couple of cold snaps, but that is about it. Right now it's 67 degrees and very sunny.

If a car moves in FL, you can run it. No longer do they inspect the cars here as you know.

The weather here is warmer than the west coast so that just about eliminates freezes and being on a small lake for sure helps.

Come on down. You'll love it. Moved down here 25 years ago and everyday is a blessing. (And not to mention GREEN!)

I didn't know the weather is warmer over on the East coast? Interesting.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Happ I will be right there it is in the 30s' here brrrr!

Tampa, FL(Zone 10a)

Yep, the weather is warmer on the East Coast of FL.
