Brit,

Spathoglottis http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/adv_search.php?searcher%5Bcommon%5D=&searcher%5Bfamily%5D=&searcher%5Bgenus%5D=Spathoglottis+&searcher%5Bspecies%5D=&searcher%5Bcultivar%5D=&searcher%5Bhybridizer%5D=&searcher%5Bgrex%5D=&search_prefs%5Bblank_cultivar%5D=&search_prefs%5Bsort_by%5D=rating&images_prefs=both&Search=Search which is marginal here. Grows best in a container, wintering over in a greehouse. If left out over the cool winter months it goes into decline and usually doesn't recover (disease gets 'em).

That is pretty! I've not seen them in our area. 46* here now. Our temps are still on the downward swing usually between 8-9am.

Red Oak, TX

DaleTheGardener, as always, I totally enjoyed your pictures, lots of great ideas, and color combinations.

joeswife, lovely back yard pictures, it is going to be twice as lovely with all those new plants that you have started already..
That bulb is taking its own sweet time opening, I will have a chalice vine bloom in a day or two.

Happy_1, you have a very welcoming back yard. Are those orchids you have hanging on the lattice work?

MySharona, yesterday was a very cold and windy day here in Red Oak. Last night it got down to 27 F.

Where is Red Oak in comparison to Bellaire/Houston? I grew up in Bellaire.

Red Oak, TX

MyShorona, Red Oak is around 250 NNW of Houston, 20 miles south of downtown Dallas. I can get to Houston Intercontinental Airport in 3.5 to 4 hours.

Yup, those are some of the "babies". That was taken before our cold snap so some things are a little fried but will recover.

Thanks.

Yep - you get cold up there LOL! When I was in my teens I wanted to live in that area to get the cold winters.

Buffalo, NY

It's 2:17 pm and it's 25 degrees outside with intermittent snow showers. Suppose to warm up later in the week. Now have color showing on the Medinilla flower buds and if you can look close enough you can see lots of little round buds inside :)

Tampa, FL(Zone 10a)

It is warm here, now, until later, than it will get cold again.

Good Monday morning!!! I see you all been busy.
Love that flame vine but no place to plant them, water lilly too.

Desoto, TX(Zone 8a)

Think the flame vine would grow in Dallas Texas? Trying to cover a fence and screen out a neighbor.

Anyone know what this is? the whole plant is only 4-5 inches tall.
