do they need alot of water
birds nest fern
I always check mine before watering--stick your finger down into the soil as far as you can go to see if there is still moisture. Too much will rot the roots. Mine is very happy with a good drink about once a week. I water it just till the water begins to run through but doesn't fill the tray. I have a good layer of pebbles in the tray so the pot doesn't sit in the excess water.
I agree with NatureLover, before watering do the finger stick check to see if the soil is moist before adding water. This plant does like higher humidity which can be achieved by misting daily or sitting the plant on a tray of pebbles and adding a little water to the tray, refilling with a little water as it evaporates. As the water evaporates it raises the humidity around the plant.
