Coffee Break # 5 - Spring is not too far off!

Thomaston, CT

Can't really see the dragonfly--it's in the upper left--but it came out really nice in the book. Also have her pretending to be a bunny, bear, cockatoo, butterfly---she's very imaginative!

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Have a great trip, Thom.
Lovely illustration, but I couldn't see the dragonfly at all on my screen. Sorry.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Have a good time, Thom and enjoy the warm temps! Good luck to your brother on the defense.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

is that trout smiling?

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Very nice indeed Robin. I found the dragonfly, that's him up there under the copyright printing isn't it? Such a wonderful gift, you should be very proud.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Ohhh Marilyn you may have a new career ahead of you. Those are so charming.

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Anyone watch that new show "Lie to Me" on fox?

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I can see that show appealing to women with a masokistic streak.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I was watching Discovery Channel and saw the promos for "Logging"
Way dramatic,a whole family of loggers.
I was promopted to think how we could "drama - up" gardening?
What would the behind the credits narrater say?

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

lie to me - yes Jen - i've seen several episodes

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

'Gardeners Drama: the Galloway Gardener Family battles the feared lily beetle!' Somehow it doesn't come across as too scary although it is. Do you folks get the History Channel. My DH pointed out a show 'Ice Road Truckers' which I'm going to watch cuz I used to live in Yellowknife and travel by ice road in the Arctic http://www.history.com/minisites/iceroadtruckers

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I watched a couple of episodes. I truely belive its dangerous but there was definatly a contrivence to bring in drama where there was a need to manipulate the viewer.
I stopped watching after that.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

I'll pass then. Thanks ge1836. I prefer movies for fiction.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

y'all are Sooo fuuunny.

I have a spring up date. Not only are the willows starting to put out leave but many more trees down here are also. And Achoo!!!!! some of the oaks are even blooming. I am trying to push spring up north for y'all but it is not easy. Will keep trying---so do not give up hope Spring is on it's way north.

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Keep shoving that spring a bit north, we do appreciate the effort. Real actual green leaves. Oh how nice it will be to see them again. We have some nasty old brown ones still hanging on the oak trees. One good thing though there are not many left and if the old timers are correct when the oaks are all bare spring will soon be there. :)

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Beautiful, Robin!

There is also a new logging show starting on the History Channel - Axemen.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

The spring bulbous bloom migration has made its way from TX to CO on my migration route already wren so I'm thinking it won't be too long now til it gets to me ^_^ They should plot it like the hummingbird migration so I could follow along on a map.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

ngam quick like a bunny go and put a couple of big fans on your oaks!

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I noticed the "catkins" on the River Birch next to the house.

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

there is an old book I think the title is "North with the Spring" a couple start in the Everglades and follow spring north. Was a good book. I think I will go look on Amazon.com.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

To bad that doesn't happen in real life. We could have tea and admire my first crocii together.

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

Well if one of us wins the lotto we could--but if I ever win I would probable drop dead of shock. LOL

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Robin, Beautiful work!

Thomaston, CT

Thanks---the fish is supposed to be a salmon---HayHay was in Alaska last year, so that's one of her memories. One of her Greatgrandmas is Australian, & she has brought back many things for her--so that's why I included kangaroos---everything in the book is about a family member---mine is sort of mundane--we go to the pond looking for turtles & kingfishers. We did have a wonderful spring sighting yesterday---4 redwings came to the feeder.

DH & I watched the girls for 3 hours last night, & we are about to head up to the farm for a few more hours---love them to pieces, but they do tire me out!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Heard from Celeste. The flu has been running through the family and she is recovering. She says hi to all! Hopefully they will all be well soon. They have had their share lately.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

glad to hear she is ok - noticed she had not been heard from - they certainly have been through the ringer

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Thanks Victor for the update on Pixie. Did everyone 'Hoodie-Hoo' today? I did ^_^

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

South Hamilton, MA

Went bowling today for the first time in 30 years! I was pathetic. Even pulled a hamstring! My wife was throwing the ball like little kids do and she beat me.
