I have a part of my flower grden that doesn't get a lot of sun and the soil is very wet most of the time. What wold be good to plant there?
What Plants to use?
Welcome to the forums, craven1:-) I have lobelia cardinalis in a wet spot. It gets moring sun there and flowered well last year. It is in a wet part of my garden where the air conditioning unit drains.
sounds like a good place for ferns. There are many varieties with color and texture. My favorite is the Japenese fern: burgundy and silver greys. Are you looking for perennials or annuals?
Winterberry would be good if you do get a little sun.
Thanks to all who responded. You all have been a great help. I now have some great ideas and a starting point. This is a wonderful site.
Glad we could help:) Going to try some pitcher plants in that same area this year for a little contrast. If it's a good area for them, I know it'll start a whole new obsession, lol!
You have the perfect conditions for filipendula. http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/adv_search.php?searcher%5Bcommon%5D=&searcher%5Bfamily%5D=&searcher%5Bgenus%5D=filipendula&searcher%5Bspecies%5D=&searcher%5Bcultivar%5D=&searcher%5Bhybridizer%5D=&searcher%5Bgrex%5D=&search_prefs%5Bblank_cultivar%5D=&search_prefs%5Bsort_by%5D=rating&images_prefs=both&Search=Search They are one of my favorite flowers. There are different species with a size range of 12" to several feet. Most species do quite well with only a little sun. Another good one are astilbes. I have them planted with my filipendulas, along with Japanese painted fern. They are all thriving in a mostly shady spot with a lot of moisture.
