I'm getting ready to plant some of my bulbs and did some research to discourage those pesky squirrels from digging them up (they destroyed over $100 worth last year and I'm determined I'm not going to let that happen this year!!!!). So my research says to dust the bulbs with medicated body powder. Also my research said to plant some blood meal with the bulbs and put some on top of the ground after you bury to bulbs. I understand the cat & dogs may do some digging b/c of the bm. My sweet doggie passed away in July, so I don't have to worry about the dog digging them up and I don't have a cat, so I don't have those worries. Any thoughts on this? Has anyone tried either or both of these? I'd rather be safe than sorry...

Protecting Bulbs, have you ever tried medicated body powder?
I think this answer might also belong in the garden Myths thread but last year I used Cayenne pepper on the ground where I planted the bulbs, squirrls left them alone.
Bought the resturante size at a Sams type store.
Ah, I forgot about the cayneee pepper. Glad to know it works. Does is work after it rains too?
i'm not sure, mine crusted after awhile
