I got some brugs in the mail and I really don't have a good place to grow them. I'm in zone 7b and would like to put them in the ground, but don't know the best spot. It can get very hot and dry in the summers here, and it freezes every winter w/ mainly freezing rain but we do get a little snow. The front of the house faces South and my yard is full sun. I was thinking about putting them next to the Magnolia which is in the middle of the yard next to the road, it would be exposed to all of the elements but at the bottom of the hill where the water gathers when it rains.
growing brugs
Or on the East side of the house, where it won't get the afternoon sun blazing down on it in the summer, and is a little more protected from the high winds, but from what I understand it may not grow like it's supposed to because being next to the house. I've never grown brugs before and have no clue.
What do you think? I have more pictures of my property if you want to see them.
You might try posting in the Brug forum--they'll have the best advice for you. I think your zone is going to be a bit borderline, but I think there are some that are a little hardier than others so it will probably depend on which ones you have whether you'll be OK with them in the ground or not.
