What are your non-gardening hobbies? - Part 2

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Oh, I hate this font! I read about the GUILT she was sewing.

North Augusta, ON

For you beer drinkers out there...try making deviled eggs out of pickled eggs...to die for!!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Drink the beer first?

North Augusta, ON

LOL...to eat while drinking the beer. Or without the beer. I even use pickled eggs to make egg salad sandwiches.

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Wait - don't pickled eggs have vinegar, or salt , or sugar, or something, not beer?

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Ohhhhhh.

Poughkeepsie, NY(Zone 6a)

Oh the HUMANITY! Beer, eggs....Broccoli next?

LOL!!!!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Don't forget to pass the beans!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

I can make some good chili to go with that!

Moscow, ID(Zone 5a)

olfactory overload.

Poughkeepsie, NY(Zone 6a)

Cleanup on aisle 3!

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

Ham and Cabbage, anyone??!??

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

what a combo

Thomaston, CT

You guys are too funny! My dale must have been reading this thread---had to throw him out of the kitchen this morn--he does have to have a hard boiled egg every day---

Medway, MA(Zone 5b)

Outside of gardening, my hobbies are internet-window-shopping; crafting - no particular medium, whatever hits my fancy at the moment; blogging - just to look at photos for craft and decorating ideas; watch LOST, Fringe, and House; and, I guess that's about it.

Oviedo, FL(Zone 9b)

Ingredients depend on your egg recipe. I make them for the UMass Band Parents tailgate parties. I get met at the corner with my devilled egg boxes and they almost don't make it to the serving table. I have NEVER brought an egg home or had to send some home with anyone else. They are kind of a guilty pleasure in this cholesterol laden world. The only person they love more at these events is the guy who makes Oreo cookie balls. I love him myself!
Paula Deen puts sour cream in hers. I put the vinegar in to keep the mayo fresh but not lethal pickling amounts of it. The rest is my secret recipe.
I have a full set of devilled egg plastic carry containers and a number of devilled egg plates. I will bring some to the next Northeast RU that I attend and you may judge for yourselves.

The rest is my secret recipe. Come on! Share......

Essex Junction, VT(Zone 4a)

OK, I have to admit I've not had many deviled eggs in my life. Maybe 2?? maybe. never made in my household so just never had them. and they always looked strange at picnic parties and such.

South Hamilton, MA

Does anyone mix pickle relish in their d. eggs?

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

I do ..... I do ..... dill relish

North Augusta, ON

I'm weird, I love dill pickles with a passion...except when they're mixed in with anything, then I can't stand the taste of them...go figure!

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

3g i am the same way - pickled my own last year an waitin gto finished the store bought jar so i can test them out.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Here's a yummy combo I like:
8 hard boiled eggs
1/3 cup mayo
1 1/4 tsp. curry powder
1 tbsp. chutney, minced
2 tbsp. sweet pickle relish
2 tbsp. minced green onion
1 tsp. dry English-style mustard
2 tbsp. tiny capers
salt and pepper to taste
garnish with fresh parsley and paprika

South Hamilton, MA

I would leave out the curry powder & capers, not being a fan, but otherwise, yum. I'm afraid that I now buy mine, having given up the fancy stuff.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

The curry is very subtle irisMA. Balanced by essence of egg.

South Hamilton, MA

Essence of taste--I know things are more subtle when combined, it's just my strange tastebuds showing.

Moscow, ID(Zone 5a)

Dnut - curry/capers! I will make these & report back on their success.

I like to add roasted serrano chiles to my recipe. It curtails the most enthusiastic of deviled-egg-eaters: backfire, and literally...

Oviedo, FL(Zone 9b)

Do you just spoon the filling in or pipe it in fancy?
Martha

Moscow, ID(Zone 5a)

nothing fancy for deviled eggs. At my house they must be assembled quickly or else the filling ends up on the end of tortilla chips. (DH & DS)

Thomaston, CT

I put capers &olives on top as a garnish---put horseradish & dillweed in the mixture.

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Yummy .... dillweed .....

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

ooo the horseradish/dill combo sounds yummy. I'm going try that one.

Went to the store today and took a digger on keister.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

are we to blame your parents for the digger on keister?

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

and did you poof?

I was not a gentel poof.

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

Took a digger ..... That's what we say when we go camping and need to take a "comfort break" .... as yer supposed to dig a hole and bury it ..... hence "I need to take a digger"

I would never want to take a digger in a store, though I would poof there.

My legs went under the car! I sure will have black and blues tomorrow. There is a patch of ice where I USED to park my car.

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

owie owie ..... That does not sound like any fun!! :-(

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

OUCH! That sounds painful. Thankfully you didn't break yourself. At first I thought a dog bit you on the bum: 'digger on keister'.
