Here is a Wood Stork.
DAILY PICS VOL. 179
The buntings are just so pretty!!
It was great, to look at all your pictures today, nice variety.
Thanks Wallaby for this thread. I enjoy your Pheasants.
We all got some birds that are not always a welcome sight, especially if they're big gluttons, or come in great numbers, and scare the smaller one. In my yard, these 3 are the ones ......... Ah well, they gotta eat too, to survive .
GP, That first hawk is a Red-shouldered Hawk.
Love the Bunting!
Nice pic burn!
Thanks for the ID Pelle, I don't try anymore....I just know I have Hawks, quite a few, in fact. I'm pretty sure I have seen the Peregrine Falcon a few more times recently also.
Too bad there are no pictures here as there was a flock of 18 turkeys in the front garden this morning. They were working under the bird feeder & picking up grit from the driveway. I'm sure that all the snow has been cramping their style.
Great pictures everyone!
I found my first banded House Finch yesterday. So far I've found our locals birders haven't done any banding. Found an email address on the internet and sent a photo and asked for any available information. Unfortunately, I couldn't read the band number, but they still may be able to track the bird.
wow, I've never seen a banded bird at my feeders.
He's a cutie!!
Nice pics duc,burn and nanny!
That's neat Elphaba!
That is cool Elphaba!!
Is that a hummingbird feeder? Looks like there is just a tray there. Would love to see more of the feeder since it's so neat that the bird uses it.
pretty
OHHHH, I gave that one to a friend! Okay, now I get it. Good idea.
She is sooo pretty!!
ooohhh very pretty
Pretty Robin and sparrow pics Duc! Wow!
I don't know if an easier feeder would draw the bees away from a hummer feeder. The winning photo in Birds and Blooms magazine contest last year was a pic of a hummer attacking a bee. I doubt hummers would be detered by bees.
Here's my Orange-crowned warbler again. She let the Pine Warbler have a sip but I missed the pic. At first, the Pine Warbler would attack her over the sugar-water and she would have to sneak around him. Now that she's an addict, she defends her fix so fiercely that she chases him away. It looks like now they've reached an agreement.
I found out saturday that someone has bought a lot down along where I get alot of my bird pics on my walks. I was not a happy camper. This is exacly where I got my Swainson's Thrush late last summer. I almost cried...I know it is bound to happen..not like this is all mine...but man I am BUMMED OUT!!!
They have already started to clear it out. At least they didn't wait until nesting season to do that. This was also the main trail for the deer too. I have a feeling we won't be seeing many of those at all any more either. :(
