So do I understand that the buffalo currant - is clove scented?!? How did I miss this????

Greensboro, NC(Zone 8a)

do you have one? it will just about knock you over! but i like 'korean spice' viburnum better for spice. nothing compares to that bush.

I've got Viburnum x burkwoodii 'Mohawk' - was told the scent on this one is wonderful as well. I'm trying to find that buffalo currant - High Country has it...just seeing if I can find it any place else.

Chantell, I got a mohawk last year , about a foot tall and it's full of blooms . They are fragrant all right . If yours doesn't bloom this year, it probably will next year .Also got the K.S. and it's only about 8" tall, has a bloom cluster also . Have the Marissii and Judii and the compacta . Am really looking forward to good smells this year . The Judii had one bloom last year , but only putting out leaf buds so far , a little early yet . Am going to see how many of everything I can root over the next two years . keep your fingers crossed .
We had snow showers today, Jap maples are in pots in the ground and leafed out . I have them covered with sheets . Hope for the best , last year they froze and had to start over . Digger

digger - do you like one over the other with regard to scent (mohawk vs KS)?

Dahlonega, GA

The K.S. hasn't bloomed yet , only showing bloom buds . It will be another week before they open enough to smell. If they are any better than the mohawk , I'll be in hog heaven . You are the one that got me started on this scent binge, so I'll be sure to let you know what I prefer. Won't make much difference tho , i'm going to put everything out , either in the front or in the back. The house may be doggie but the yard will be smellum up great .lol digger

Oh believe me...I hear ya...inside of my house looks like a bomb has gone off...but the outside WILL be scent heaven...just gotta wait a few weeks...really hoping for buds on my Daphne I put in last year. The little Rock Daphnes I just planted last month - one of them has buds....keeping fingers crossed....

Chantell, if i can get a little piece w/roots of the buffalo currant, i'll ask you for your mailing address. i may have to cut the stem down just to get roots but i'll try. these can be buggers.

Oh Dabney that would be amazing...I'll send you a dmail...btw, I gave you instructions in the other thread on how to do that. ^_^
