I'm 50 now, Pop culture don't interest me. Magazines are done, too many ads, too little content and you can find the VERY latest on the net now. Remember, mags are printed up usually a couple of months in advance. In the astonomy world for instance that is NOT good. We need the LATEST news/info. Magazine are useless IMHO. The internet is so CHOCK full of more current and more in depth info.
Save your money people!
What are your non-gardening hobbies?
I agree - Tommy is 50. Just kidding! I agree completely about magazines, newspapers, etc. Saves the trees too.
Tom, what astronomy sites do you like?
My main other pleasure is photography.
I have just changed my camera to have a Canon 40D.
I try to take pictures of almost everything.
Two weeks ago I went to Mexico to see the Monarch butterflies migration site.
Just unbelievable.
That must have been great, Reggie. I would love to see that.
We had to walk up to 12 000 feet altitude.
But we saw millions of them.
Wow! How easily did you adjust to the altitude?
Back to front here, too
Cool beans! I'd love to see the monarchs' migration destination.
I would love to see the Monarchs! That must have been amazing.
Does it make sense when you read it back to front?
Go to see the butterflies takes a whole day.
Most of this time is to reach and going back.
But you must see other thins in Mexico.
Yes seeing those butterflies is amazing. But went you see it once you are made.
Thanks, Tom!
Yes, I do read back to front, esp. Smithsonian--I like the last pg best, & Dog World---always a good story on last pg. I do get Eating Well also---it's a NE publication, & has great recipes. The Monarch migration sounds awesome!
David - Magazines these days make as much sense back to front as they do front to back. Especially in MD offices when you only read half an article in a magazine you wouldn't otherwise look at twice!
And all the "good" articles are at least half way through the magazine, so if you start off towards the back you skip all the "filler." So we're all not crazy for back to front IMHO :)
And what is it about sitting in Drs offices that makes you pick up a magazine you never would otherwise? I guess because that's all they have and you're too bored to care??
I was running errands the other day, was in Walmart, and realized I had brought no reading material to read while waiting to pick up my son from school - and I would have a good 20 minutes to kill. I know, I thought, I'll buy a magazine. I went through, saw a few good gardening magazines - and almost fainted! The cheapest one was $6.99!! Holy moly! One of them was even $10.99!
I put them back and picked up a word-search puzzle book for $1.99, lol.
The docs purposely put them there to spread germs.
LMAO. It's true. They are all 20 years old AT LEAST.
I often skip to the end of whatever I am reading, then go back to the beginning. It helped me one time in school, where we were given a test that said to read all the questions prior to writing any answers. It was a timed test, and I was the only one in the class who passed. The last question said - do not write anything on this test. It was the first "question" I read.
Great decision, Deb! Not a good idea with whodunnits, though.
Debi that's funny. They were sneaky.
Some teachers are! I would do fun things like that with the kids, but not for a grade! I usually bring a paperback of my own to Dr,'s office---germy mags is too right!
We would get weird bonus questions in HS like how many steps are there on a certain staircase, etc.
Okay - new thread.
