i had put up a feeder and these plants started underneath, any thoughts.
i'm in fla. and the recent frosts have not damaged them
what is this?? gowing under bird feeder
Looks like it could be Asclepias (milkweed), but I could be wrong.
Rape http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/79575/ It is used in some birdseed mixes.
I am so glad you posted this picture. I knew it was a seed from my Cockatiel seed mixture but I didnt know what it was. I let it grow thinking it might be broccoli but it was too tall. Then it started flowering these pretty yellow sort of clustered lil bunches. This is how tall it is as of today. I found it so amazing how something I dont water or feed can grow so large and my dogs pee on it every day. LOL!
This is one of my roommate's favorite vegetables. I am trying to grow it for him. I am glad they have been successfully growing in Florida. Seems I should have started it earlier. :)
most bird feed will grow under feeder. we had two feeders with full growth after big rain storm ,now buy seed that won't grow
You can also sterilize your seed by baking for about 10 mins. on a low setting in your oven.
Certianly looks like something from the cabbage family. I love it when volunteers grow in strange places. I have Arugula growing under the shade tree next to our patio - which is about 30 feet away from where it should be growing. A single carrot grew in some potted marigolds. Sunflowers popped up all over the place last summer - I just let them grow where they sat. Squirrels planted acorns and wild pecans in our raised beds. Those I pulled out as soon as I spotted them.
That first pic sort of looks like collards!
