Page too Missed a bit of the edge but Im sure you can fill in.
Some of these were not really tips but personal experiences when I first bought the house .
What's Happening in YOUR Neighborhood # 13
OHHHH Carol, that was a lovely article...now I (we) need to see more photo's of your garden to help us get through the winter humdrums...thanks for taking a closer shot..was easy to read..
Decided I was feeling sad today so needed something to shake me up..rather than find a fast food outlet I decided to go to the Garden Gallery here in Barrie..wow, they have 1/2 the facility closed, arranging patio's and ponds..look out come April/May..all Christmas displays now put away and it's spring...it's so beautiful in there, one could go crazy..garden/home decorations galore..
Was pleased I had my camera with me..took a few photo's so when I get home I'll post them..I could have walked out with half the store..each time I drive myself into work I'll head over for my FIX...
Don, will get the info..she has 5 or 6 American Eskimo dogs, not sure which one is competing...will find it out and post tonight..
I'm off to see if I can find a photo for you...
Carol,
There are always extras printed. You could probably mail a copy to those interested. There is also an awesome article written by our own "Dahlianut" in that issue.
Congrats, Carol!
I see one reason why you wouldn't be pleased - you don't simply "take in stray dogs"!!
The beauties you find homes for are not 'strays', but "rescued" shelties..........
The other thing is - the article is not about her experience of building houses, so it's a confusing start.....
Anyway - it's a wonderful thing for you to be 'published' :-))
Your garden is so restful, with such a variety of colours and plants! It's a garden I would have, if I had the expertise........ and room :-)
Thanks for sharing.
-Susan-
whoo hooo - Dahlianut - have a pic of your article, too?
Don, here is a photo of my sister Sharon Robertson and her dogs..to me (I know you'll all shake your head) but one looks just like the other so I'll have to have Sharon tell me which is competing..not sure is she's showing her dog herself or if her trainer is...
Lots of questions to ask her..
Thanks for the info so far, Betty. (Photo doesn't appear to have come through) Have written her name and the breed down, so any extra would be great. ^_^
Will she be handling the dog herself or....
Carol, just spent time in your garden..love the look of all the stencilling you've done as well..see, didn't we have a nice visit with me ohhh/ahhh ing all over your gardens..
WOW ... great stuff on here this afternoon :-)
Carol (and DNut) wonderful news re your articles .. Carol the pics are 'dreamy' :-) Here we sit not only in TBay but other FROZEN places, and able to have a super visual experience that gives us HOPE !! (Don excluded LoL)
Thank you so much for sharing.
Betty .. does your sis know when we'll get the Westminster televised here in Canada ? I always seem to get it second hand WAY down the road ..
There are 2 folks from TBay showing dogs .. one is already a Best in Breed Champ from 2007 .. Shitzhu (sp) .. the other is a Bernese Mountain Dog, Nola, her first time out, she is GORGEOUS.
Your sisters dogs are fabulous Betty and I wish her well.
Went past our Conservatory today .. almost pulled in to take a wlak through .. but decided against it as I was kinda strapped for time. Glad you took time to 'smell the roses' Betty, but how unfortunate re the sewing machine caper !!!
Gosh it was SO cold and DAMP here today .. couldn't keep my hands warm it seemed .. my Angora mitts my Gram made me years ago .. finally died .. and my elderly Aunt is not too keen on working with Angora .. I have a bud who may give it a go wearing a mask LoL
Off to arrange supper ..
~M~
Oh aren't they just lovely. A lot of work, I'll bet.
Marilyn the show is Feb 9/10 seems to me we get it here shortly thereafter I will keep an eye on the TV schedule - can never remember what channel it is on anymore.
GLad you enjoyed the garden ladies! Pretty frozen right now!
Wish I had gotten a better one of the yellow display..if I drive in to work tomorrow I'm going back..they had a painting on canvas that I fell in love with..wouldn't pay $199.99 but might try and make something not same but similar for the garden..
Can't wait until all their nurseries are open, their pond display and mini gardens...probably not until April/May..know where I'll be spending lunches and paycheck..lol
Betty this is from the West. K.C. website re television coverage. I have no idea however what channel you would see it on in Canada. But obviously they are showing it the same nights.

Thanks so much for the info Carol. I followed the link right through for the Westies .. wonderful info !!
Another COLD day here .. off for a haircut early this morning, then lunch with friends
Lovely pics Betty .. EASTER !! Akkkk .. ^_^
I know it's late this year as my Grandson turns 8 on Good Friday (April 10).
Take care all
~M~
Thanks Carol for all the wonderful info..wasn't able to reach Sharon last night, guess there is some grooming going on with her dogs...lol...
She's a cold one here today but omg 5 on Saturday and rain mixed with snow..that ought to be fun but on the positive side, we're through one more week of winter, mark that off the calendar..
I think Westminster posts videos of all the classes each day so you can follow it there if you miss or cant get it on TV
Sorry to hear you were disappointed with the feature on your garden carol. I did think the photos were really well done although of course they are only a tease compared to an actual walkabout. Unfortunately there is no way/no how that my camera will take a good enough picture of the fine print of my article. It was about starting tender bulbs and I am writing a followup article about storing tender bulbs. I was really pleased that they put dahlia pictures with it ^_^
Talenteed gardeners amongst us for sure...
Hmmm got a call from Johns' Sewing Center...said he gave it the once over last night, was ever so pleasant, and said as far as he could see the stepping motore was seizing thus blowing the fuses...he estimates $185.75 if he opens it all up, cleans it, and if it is the stepping motor another $175. will call me if there is more to my problem machine..praying there isn't...you have to think twice aboutpaying that much for repairs but if you don't and it's a high end machine that embroiders, omg expensive to replace..my thoughts are that once it is repaired, I'm going out to purchase myself a cheap machine-under $100.00 to do all the garbage things I do...oh well, all that is left ot do is wait for my next call from h im..lol..he sure was pleasant..
Oh Les most of it was fine just a couple of things that disappointed me because of the way they were presented but no need to discuss it here. And the pics were fine too! Just perhaps unfortunate that after one is interviewed there is no way to see the article before it goes to print.
I recall a doctor I worked with would not do interviews of any kind except live talk because he said you could never be sure how things would be presented!
Really not such a big deal.
This morning, out walking the dogs a lady came along with her little dog and we stopped to talk for a moment and she said to me - wasnt there a picture of you and the dogs in the paper last year about your garden? Guess I am famous when total strangers recognize me?
Fantastic, a star amongst us...
Talked to Sharon, she's been ill with same as I had..her dog that is competing is called INUK and the handler is GRAEME..she beilieves he's competing on Monday at 11:45...
Told her we'd be cheering them on...
Here is her webpage link..alll her dogs and their achievements are listed...
These are Inuk's achievement

My, such a beautiful dog! I will be watching on Monday. Thanks Betty. ^_^
Hope Sharon is feeling better by next week .. I'll be watching if I am able ^_^
Thanks for all the info ..
~M~
Well .. we actually have a TEMPERATE day here in Thunder Bay .. seems we may have sent our cold to Ottawa !!
Headed for town today .. see what kinda trouble I can myself into ^_^
Everyone enjoy their day
~M~
Yeah - but that temperate weather is heading this way tomorrow - just in time for the start of Winterlude. We DON'T need RAIN for Winterlude!
Will spend more time today scanning archival photos for the Food Cupboard - a slide show presentation at the AGM in celebration of 20 years of volunteers who have made the place work.
And I need to work out a tentative rehearsal schedule for bells for the next several months to figure out how we are going to learn all the requisite Festival music, half of which is NOT appropriate to play in church.
Have a great day.
Ann
You never cease to amaze me Ann, always on the go..hope they appreciate all your efforts...
They tell me it's the coldest day of the year so far..depends on what station you listen to but some areas here have hit -31 with windchill factor...
Long day, waiting for the end of it and it's shuffle off to Bufallo..taking mom for the weekend..going to get to meet DebbieDaisy for breakfast tomorrow, that's exciting
I e-maled to wish my sister luck and asked about the process..this is what she replied.....
first they judge each breed... there are 13 eskies entered... so we are praying for Best of Breed.... but they will give out 2 awards of merit...
its an award to recognize an outstanding dog. then after all the non
sporting dogs are judged, each best of breed winner will compete in the Non sporting group. The dog that places 1st will go to best in show. so each group 1 winner from 7 groups will go to best in show
Betty - maybe I should say that I am not doing the slideshow. Another volunteer and I got together with old pics a couple of days ago and decided which ones to scan. Her DH declined to scan them so I said I would. I'm one of the very few volunteers who've been around since the very beginning of the program; so I'm better able than many to help identify the event and maybe the people.
Have a good weekend.
I'm off for a quick early dinner and will be ready to head out the door in 45 minutes for handbell practice
Ann
Signing off for a few days..look after yourselves..gonna miss you all..lol...
God willing we'll talk on Sunday..might even have a few photo's
Travel safe Betty :-)
~M~
I can't believe after all that cccold weather we just had this week that they are now calling for rain tomorrow!! Sheesh!!! This weather just makes me crazy!!!
Just back in from a wee jaunt with Lilly .. are ya ready for this .. it is +1 C here in TBay !!!!! Lilly, who is actually none too thrilled to go walking in the pre sunrise hour, was ON IT !! In fact .. she even came out with me to feed the deer .. the rain that was predicted has yet to show itself, and, that is WAY OK ^_^
It's mornings like this the BEES in my Bonnet start to BUZzzzz with thoughts of going to get seeds and start them inside .. however .. I also have my 'wakey wakey voice' reminding me that this is just ONE of Ma Natures insidious little pieces of February trickery .. more than likely we'll be plunged into the deep freeze real soon ...
My day is replete with loads of laundry, a dump run, and some additional zippin about the countryside which will, as it turns out, take me right past 2 of our larger greenhouses .. just MAYBE .. I'll buy a packet or two of seeds.
Enjoy your weekend !!
~M~
Guess it was rather 'exciting' near me last evening. Heard a helicopter flying circles overhead which means it is the police heli. Look out the front door but cant see it ( he didnt have his spotlight on) go out into the back yard with one of the dogs to check it out and see it finally - yes flying tight circles overhead. Suddenly think it is maybe not too smart to be standing out in the backyard when I dont know whats going on so in we go and lock the doors.
This morning in the paper a little story - last evening just one street up and a block over police were called because of gunshots heard, a car was found with many bullet holes, doors open and car running - no bodies!
We have a couple of gangs in town who have been busy shooting, wounding and killing each other lately plus an occasional innocent bystander too. First time it has happened around here. Scary!
That is scary Carol; thought of you right away when I heard where the incident was. Yikes. This city is getting ridiculous.
Joanne
Yikes! Carol
That was way to close!
I bet next time you won't go outside , right?
We get the helicopter over use too as we are close to Whyte ave and it seems to be there a bunch but we've been lucky and not had gun shots!
Ann
