Patiently waiting.
Common Redpoll Love-fest
So cute burn!
Love these pictures. I threw my memory stick out by mistake, so I can only store about 8 photos. I've got to get a new one so I can join you.
Rose , they need to stand their ground against the goldfinches, if they can gain access to the feeder both are piggies for thistles seeds. The goldfinches have gone, so no competition at the feeders here.
Thanks Pelle and Pam.
Pamgarden, are you getting Redpolls in your area too? Show us your birdies.
I keep forgetting to check my state bird site:

We haven't positively identified a redpoll here yet, but are going to be on the lookout. We see house finches on a fairly regular basis. I'm going to be more vigilent in case we are seeing both and lumping them together. Goldfinches are getting goldier by the day and visiting in larger numbers. Doves are grazing like cows underneath the bird feeder. We're going to the big city (Charlottesville) on Thursday if we don't get those tornado winds to get another memory stick for the digital, so maybe I'll get my first bird picture soon.
YAy! be looking forward to it.
Those are cute shots Burn..nice to see a Hoary too! You must think we are silly getting all excited about one or three Redpolls! LOL! I haven't see our guy today but it is raining and the birds have gone ballistic!
Mrs. Ed...cool shot...I've never seen a Tree Sparrow! I like your state's forum..I'll have to see if we have one for Mo.
Pam...Looking forward to your pics!
Mrs_ Ed, Looking back at your pictures of the redpoll standing beside the house finch, I don't think we would have mistaken redpolls for finches. They are much different in size and color. Now I'm really on the lookout.
Your state does have a nice site!! I don't like any of the ones for Idiana...not helpful at all...
Pam,
If you are going to mistake them at all, it might be for Pine Siskins (until you see the head). When I first saw the one hanging upside down on the finch feeder, It looked all stripey, so I thought it was a Siskin and grabbed the camera. When it came upright I saw the red cap!
