Why does this happen.. throw seeds and it grows well....

This is especially true with tomatoes, papaya, custard apple and perhaps so many others! I don't know what others' experiences are. But those have confirmed what I've said, time and again. Look here the tomatoes! No watering, no care... just threw out kitchen waste in its pit and lo, after a few months, we get surprise fruits!! This is the second batch from one plant. 3 not in picture.

In nature you have what is known as a triangle. When all point sof the triangle are met, such as sun, water and temps, then you get plants and fruit.

Plants have survived longer than man has and nature has it's own special way of makign sure that more plants grow as long as nothing out of the ordinary happens.

We as humans just to impatient to wait on mother nature to do her thing. We gotta get in their and help her along.

Now if you would have had a major drought or too cold of conditions, thos eseeds may not have germinated until the proper conditions were met. Some seeds cna sit for years and years until they determien that all the conditons they want and need are right and then poof, ya got new seedlings a growing.

Ther is a winter sowingdiscussion on the cottage garden forum and those folks get as close to nature a syou cna for sprouting. They just do it so that they cna corral their seedlings an dkeep an eye on them by plantignthem in jugs and containers. You shoud check out the cottage garden forum when ya get a chance.

I have high hopes for some tomatoes sown this way. I love the way they will just grow from the compost like they do. ;-) Star, well said, great description. Plants do it all on their own, and we do all kinds of things to make them do it differently, or more, or on our schedule, or what have you.

Dinu, thanks for the inspiring picture.

Also I think a lot of times we kill our plants with a too much love/attention, sometimes it's best to just leave things alone and let nature do its thing!

Yes, very well said, all three of you. We seem to pamper too much, don't we?
