What is wrong with the lower leaves on this GAC Plant?

What do you think is wrong with the lower leaves on this GAC http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/174939/ plant?

They are turning an almost orange color. It looks a little more yellow in the picture than it is. The upper part of the vine seems just fine. The plant is only about 9 weeks old and is in a 8-gallon pot until spring when I can take it outside. It just appears like these lower leaves are doing this.

If it is insufficient fertilizer, can you recommend what I might use? I bought some of the "neptune's harvest" product but have not tried it yet.

Is overwatering a possibility?

It's probably nothing bad at all. As the plant grows, leaves at the bottom will yellow naturally. Just pinch them off; the yellowing leaves just compete for nutrient but offer nothing to the plant's growth.

After seeing the issues spread to a pineapple guava I have growing in a potter next to this one, it looks like I have a fungus gnat infestation.

Applying Gnatrol in the morning when the lights come on.

Hopefully this will solve the issues.

I'd check on the moisture level in the soil--yellowing leaves can be a sign of overwatering and I never have trouble with fungus gnats unless I'm keeping things a bit too wet. So I suspect the roots are staying a pinch too wet which is causing the yellowing leaves and also creating good conditions for the gnats to reproduce.

I agree with ecrane. It sounds like you are overwatering. This is a very common problem with houseplants. Before you water, stick your finger into the soil as far as you can. When it is dry, you can water. Or - wait until the leaves just start to wilt - then water.

I assume that you have drainage holes in the bottom? And that the pot doesn't sit down into the water that drains out of the bottom... You don't want roots to sit in water or they will rot.
