January Blooms continued #6

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Gran says she can't upload and I know Jan can't either with the long threads. I, at least, have to find a picture to start a new thread.

Here is Cape Essence and she throws up 4 blooms to a stalk each time.

YAY-- thanks!!!

Here is a bloom from a violet Lou sent in the fall trade. It was labled as Anice Prior. I can't find much information on it. The link that is at the top of the list on yahoo searches goes to a vendor on ebay . . .

I don't know but she is outstanding looking! Who is the vendor because I know a lady on ebay who is from Germany and has some unusual violets and streps. (not the exotica lady).

I have a few blooms today. This first one is not a gesneriad but verrrry exciting to me as I am a novice orchid grower. She was on the 'give away' table about 6 months ago for 5.00 and look now! Going to get blooms soon and look at her left and see a stalk coming out of that orchid, too.

Are you wondering why that plywood is behind them? When we got ready for Hurricane Ike and boarded up, I wouldn't let my brother take the plywood off of the French doors in my bedroom. I like sleeping it with the room soooo very dark.

The sinningia speciosa Charles Lawn variety are nice but way too big for my shelves. Won't grow that one again.

My favorite is already blooming again after only 6 weeks. (Nocturnal )

Susan, all your blooms are georgeous!
Gail, I've never seen a bloom of your I didn't like.
Syru, that Anice Prior is adorable. I love the dark edge on the flower, like a little frame to hold in the color.

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

Ooh, that Nocturnal is pretty!

I think it is violetolet or something like that. In their description, there should be a slight green edge of the bloom . . . but since this is the first bloom to open, I'm not too concerned. It IS very pretty! ^_^

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

I had to talk on the phone for a while..........so will post some more blooms.
Bristol's Agitated Eel starting to bloom.

hello Nichole! Did you find a new home?

Franken Copper Knob almost doesn't have any leaves from me cutting (LOL)

I never did take a picture of Gator's Tail when she was in full bloom. In this picture her blooms look washed out but they are beautiful and small........the plant just gets covered in lilac with darker markings.

What you do, Jim, is set up web cam pointing at your plant stand . . . then you can look any time you want!

Hi, Jim! Thanks so much for Julie Kuiper's name. Don't know why I think I need the hybridizer's name but I like to know.

Did that leaf come from you? It must have or you wouldn't have known.
I have been looking at the British Strep site and drooling..................what beauties..........

A lot of these streps that are just now blooming will take me a while to propagate them as they were from leaves themselves.

I also have a lot of leaves planted of ones I have never had............it seems to be an ongoing and never ending process......doesn't it......

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

mermaid...........I can't even get my First Class 2 to work at all.......bummer..........There went 27.50 plus the 22.00 I paid for two more years. I will have to just order a new disc and take the existing mess I have made on my computer and uninstall......

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

Thanks, m3rma1d . . . I seem to have a "thing" for green edged blooms, so this is an unexpected suprise!

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

My FC2 works, but I still get an error message when I try to upgrade to the 2.6.1. Gail - do you know how to uninstall programs? If not, if your computer guy doesn't visit before then, I may just tell DH that we need to go drive to the beach one day . . .

Portland, ME

Gail--I would email Joe Bruns or even call AVSA and see if they can help you with it. You shouldn't have to order a whole new disk, and who knows--if it's something you're doing wrong, a new disk might not even be the solution so it could be wasted money.. Joe is really nice and replies to emails in a timely manner. If you want his email addy, lemme know.

Portland, ME

Syrumani--Are you making sure that the program is turned off before you try to do the update?

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

No, Nichole I don't know how to uninstall (LOL) Please come to the beach when you figure it out or you can spend the night with me........It would cost me less to order a new disc than to call the computer tech.

Frederick, MD(Zone 7a)

Sweet little violet, syrumani.

Gail, do I like Franken Copper Knob? I hope you don't mind but this is my newest desktop background from your photo which I cropped first.

Oh, Goldleaf, that is great! You are already first on my list of a little bitty baby I now have of Franken Copper Knob. I just potted her up in her solo cup last week.

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

Yep. In order to even upgrade to the 2.6.0 version, I had to Save instead of Run, then go thru the unzip process. But, when I try to Update Database, I still get that "password not allowed" error, and am encouraged to update again. I think I've updated 15 times already . . . my next step (after the kids are in bed) is to peruse the Support page, to see if there is something else to try.

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

That is a great wallpaper, GoldLeaf! Gail - can I be 2nd on your list? When I was making up the list for Bingo, I kinda got a liking for the Franken series . . .

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Isn't she pretty..........I have cut almost all of her leaves off.............have to give her a new break......but I do have some leaves down.

I did save but then didn't know what to do when it came to the unzip process.....don't even know what that means.

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

Does your FC work for you at all, Gail? If the slightly older version works for you, I'll make a trip down some time in February, and make a pit stop at your place and take a look at the zip file for you. By then, I should have fixed whatever my issue is now, so would know what to do on yours . . .

Here is what the Support page says about my error issue:

Error Code 12014 – Password Not Allowed. This has nothing to do with your First Class password. It refers to the logon password as First Class attempts to log on to the server. It's usually because the server allows only six users downloading at the same time. You will need to wait a while and try again. This can happen when the database is first posted, and many people are trying to download at the same time.

Man, there must be ALOT of people trying to download, since I always get this message!

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

My old First Class works just fine and I recently updated it.............didn't even know it worked..........I am going back to where mermaid gave the site and try again........my first class works fine........just won't let me update.....says the same error code as yours....

***edited to say that the biggest dummy of all has just updated through January 09.........don't forget Nichole, after you save the very first choice like Mermaid said, be sure you right click, open and run the program. Then it let me update easily............

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

Are you up to version 2.6.1 then?

***edited to say that NOW the biggest dummy of all has just updated to version 2.6.1. I did practically the same things, except what I didn't do before is open FC by right-clicking.

Now updating says I'm up to date. ^_^

Yes mam! (where would I look to be sure.......it let me update Jan 09).

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

I opened first class and looked at the right hand side at the bottom and it says 2.61 version. I did it!! Follow my instructions........you just didn't open it and run it.........(after you saved it)

Jasper, AR(Zone 7a)

Finally I have a bloom to post. First bloom on Episcia cotton candy (this is the plant you sent me last fall Laura S)
