Someone had to do it.

Oops. Crossed posts. Thank you onewish.
I like tomato soup.
This is 'Coral Reef' a new one I have coming along with 'Tomato Soup'. Have a white one coming to go with them but I forgot which one now.

Ohhhhh that's a nice colour. Thanks for the website!
Very pretty!!! The new cultivars are really something, aren't they? I really like this one and Tomato Soup too. I've never worked with plugs, Celeste, are they easy to grow?
Tomato soup looks a little runny.
Louise I got plugs in a co-op last year and they grew for me. I didn't have any problems....they just needed to be babied with the water a bit more than a big established plant.
I see more colors will come out as poodles
like coral since it only a matter of one bloom with no bottom petals
I cant wait for my babies to bloom
when the now more than 3 feet of snow melt hahahah
Well----just read this thread, so Victor's leaving came as a total shock! Loved his posts, & wittiness, & he was supposed to help me pick out a JM---well, I've picked one---if it's a bust, it's on your head, Victor! Just kidding---his help was invaluable. I will certainly miss him.
which jm did you pick robin?
pixie, was it 'fragrant angel'? I ordered that and 'tomato soup' in the co-op. Do the plugs need to go into containers to let them get bigger before planting out in the garden?
Seeing all these pictures of the new Echinaceas has gotten me so excited to see them. I ordered from that co-op too. I went a little crazy, I ordered Green Eyes, Hope, Pink Poodle, Tomato Soup, All That Jazz, Meringue, Coral Reef, and Milkshake. Does anyone know if they will bloom this year if they are plugs?
Just missed another Echi co-op this week, it sold out in a day.
I saw that too, Dyane. One day!! Wow!
Don't know the anwer to your question, since I'm in the same boat.
Give the 'little one' a big hug
Jan it was Fragrant Angel, thank you! I did plant mine in containers because they came in March/April. I can't plant anything small out until after June 10...if its a larger plant then May31st.
Thanks, Jan. I sure will. It won't be hard since she's attached to my hip!
Sounds like good advice, Celeste.
ROTFL!!!
Good one!
I spent a long time looking before I found out there was a conflict--dunno what it was, but sure miss Victor. He was one of my photography gurus. :-(
I cracked up when I realized Mac and Cheese/Tomato Soup were real echinacias! I mostly pot garden d/t environment, and I have my eye on Tomato Soup.! Pink Poodles I'm familiar with coming from the AV world!
Heh-heh! Knew I got AV vibes from you Celeste! LOL! Pretty violet! Ya know...most of us addicts started with a violet we picked up at Home Depot/Walmart.
that is how I started liking flowers they fist came out in the early 70s and my mother would grow them she had always over a dozen of them in the house
anything for a buck and under is always my kind of deal hahahah nick name cheapy

Those are lovely Phoebe, i'm partial to those two-toned ones like your 1st pic.
Lovely AVs, Ladies! I had a beautiful collection of them in my sunroom in NC during the 70s. That room had no heat; I got the flu and forgot to open the door into the room during a cold spell. Lost them all; sad. I think they are among the easiest of all house plants to grow since they thrive on neglect (or at least mine did. LOL)
Your right Sherrie, DH & I did it yesterday while it was sunny.
I heard on the news it's going to be a major storm now...wonder what that means????
Shickenlady, It's funny you should say that, my father just sent me an email saying he was going up to his house in New Hampshire today to get the snow off the roof! By the way, I've been enjoying your optimistic spring countdown.
Dyane
Sherrie - I hope so.......we have a guy looking out for our house and hopefully he is keeping an eye on the snow load. Good luck with the next storm........too, too many! But just think how much nicer Spring will feel this year!!! Today it is cool with a gentle rain falling here. I got to walk for the first time in 10 days with my vertigo problem. It was great to take a walk in the rain and I am enjoying looking out the window at the much-needed gentle raindrops keeping me from having to water! Winters are very dry here and I think this is only the third rainfall we've had in the three months we've been down here. I'm lobbying for a fire in the fireplace tonight. The windows are open, the breeze is coming through, I have a fleece top on and am snugged in out of the rain. Heavenly! I'm looking through my Johnny's Seeds catalog to order some spinach seeds.
Does anyone grow sweet potatoes? I usually grow red norlands and yukon golds in NH in the summer. This year I think I'll try some sweet potatoes since they are so good for you and we like them so much. Anything I need to know about growing them?
O the AVs are beautiful and a luvly rescue to boot. I have a rescue from dumpster diving to rescue herbs. (Yes I actually doned the gauntlet gloves and gum boots and hauled them out of the dumpster) I guess I should start feeding it again. Usually blooms in a big poofy ball from April to November.
Louise, I think I've read sweet potatoes need a long growing season, but of course I'm not sure.
Thanks, Deb! That's good to know. I have good luck with "regular" potatoes, but I will have to research this a bit more.
RE: Sweet potatoes. I have been researching them and sources, too. They do require a long growing season, but there are some that are classified short season (80-90 days vs 100-110). I was thinking of buying some from a store that sells organic produce: the SP's might be untreated & grow well, too. I want to grow them to eat, obviously, but I am also curious about how well they would do in my climate. Warm soil, good drainage & heat are the keys.
Sand Hill Preservation Center where I ordered from. They have a website with a goodly amount of info, but you order via the mail & check/money order.
