I have had this plant for many years with no problems. Suddenly the leaves started to turn yellow. I know it was overwatered a while back.It had a bit of moldy looking stuff on the top of the soil. I have let it dry and removed the yucky soil. Should I re-pot it? Will it come back or will the leaves fall off?
split leaf Philodendron issue
It's likely from the overwatering. You might want to repot it using some vermiculite or perlite in the mix. The soil may have harmful spores from the mold still lurking. As for the band of yellow at the edge of the leaf, I would cut that area off. Cutting slightly into the healthy tissue may stop the yellowing from spreading. Is the plant far enough from the window to keep it from being damaged by the cold. Also, you want to make sure it's not near a heating vent. Heat or cold could be harmful for it too. Be sure to let the top 2" of soil dry out before watering again. They don't need much water in the winter.
