How/ when do you get seeds? What do the pods/seeds look like? I have had one growing for 4 going on 5 years now and never noticed, but would like to start getting the seeds. Can someone please help?!
Carolina Jasmine
Carolina Jessamine has a fairly small seed pod that looks like this http://www.forestryimages.org/browse/detail.cfm?imgnum=1120404
The seeds should ripen and dry before harvesting, which is usually sometime in fall.
I planted one of these last summer - it lived (!) but didn't grow very much. Now it's all brown - does that mean it's dead? If not, should I cut it back to the ground, or what? Thanks in advance!
They're supposed to be evergreen so it's not a good sign that it's all brown, but if it got brown from a bit of cold damage over the winter I wouldn't give up on it yet, some things take a while to show signs of life again in the spring. I'm not sure what zone you're in but it's supposed to be hardy to zone 7. I never cut anything back until I start to see new growth in the spring and can see which parts are really dead and which aren't. At the very least, I wouldn't cut it back until all chances of cold weather are gone.
I'm with ecrane. Those few late winter cold snaps we got really burnt up the ones around here so don't give up hope. The stems could still be alive.
