January III Blooms

South, TX

Grow Happy, lovely blooms. I am always happy to see the whole plant in photos! I love leaves as much as blooms. Espcially variegants, girl leaves, ruffles, etc.

Hillbilly gran, the glass containers are great! Are they easy to get out? They look darling!

No strep blooms to post right now, but hopefully I will be able to take some pictures tonight and post tomorrow.

Hope you enjoyed the blooms.
I'm searching for a better camera that will take superb macro shots. I've used a Nikon Coolpix P2 here.

Grow happy, I have smelled that orchid, I love it! Yours is beautiful. My orchids are all budding, it is such a wonderful time of year!

Sally, winter isn't all bad for us plant folks, is it? :)
I don't know what I would do without my flouros! I have a stubborn Zygopetalum that hasn't bloomed since I got it a few years ago. And a mini-catt Iwangaara Apple Blossom that is playing hardball as well. I bought all of these because they are pleasantly fragrant. Unfortunately, I only get reliable blooms from my oncid and phals.

Do you grow Paphs?

Sally, I also love girl leaf av's. Sadly, I lost the one NOID I had. Can you recommend any and a vendor? I would love to have one again!

Gorgeous plants GrowHappy!! I love Winter Smiles. Sally, the pots lift out easily-I use tweezers--but if I had longer fingernails I wouldn't need to, its like they were made to fit.

Have today off--Fleurs du monde--they're getting scarce around here!

First bloom--taking FOREVER to open! Rob's Sasparilla-----Edit--on second look, I see camera did not pic up the subtle pale pink petal with ruffled green edges--I try different setting later and post if I get it-probably won't get it, cos I don't really "get" this camera stuff yet--sigh

It's beautiful. Is that Apple Blossom?

Wow, I've missed lots of Beautiful Bloomers today! Lovely flowers everyone, gessie's and non gessie's alike!

That Amaryllis does look like 'Appleblossom'. I have that one putting up a stalk right now. Still have 'Aphrodite' and 'Pasadena' in bloom too. I love Amaryllis.

Phoebe, you asked about the large bottle you saw in one of my photo's. That's a 5 gallon, very heavy glass water jug (from back in the 70's before they began using plastic) and I turned it into a terrarium. I cheated though and had a large hole cut in the back at top so I could plant it. Originally I had two but one got dropped and broken many years ago!

Hillbilly_Gran: I love the looks of those little micro mini's sitting down in the clear glass jars! I do that with some things too.

Not the best photo and I cropped it so it looks much larger than it actually is, but this is micro min pusilla planted in a little bottle cap. I put gravel in the bottom of this glass and sat the little bottle cap in there. The cap doesn't have drainage though so I have to be extra careful when watering. Just a teensy drop here and there.
