Garden Photos - Part 48
pretty
wow - you need to keep your hands on the wheels on that road!
nice and easy that the way to drive it hahahah
Gorgeous, Deb.
I am so drooling over the red witch hazel. I have to add some to my garden. If I say it enough times, perhaps it will happen.
Now if I could just have a mountain or two here with a switchback, that would be nice too. I would settle for that nice mountain that debilu posted.
Ge1836, I did a long wander through the clematis that might make it to the coop list. Boy are there some nice ones. I am willing to try these even knowing that they are small. I am going to eye what you are thinking about as I know "Jack", in fact I don't even have the most known one 'Jackmanii' in my garden. Patti
onewish1, Wow, You get my "eager beaver" award of 2009. Well done. Patti
they should be perfect for blooming this summer
why thank you thank you.... i see a few poking out of the last geranium container.... and only 1 passion flower so far
I'm jealous too!
I was told both of them take a long time to mature... had to start them and hope for the best
Wow - looks nice! What type of geranium?
Patti It takes so long to go from list to web that I became more familiar with clems.
I had only planted the jackmani sp.
I really love the charm of the alpin and the Stolwyiks Gold was going to be mine until I nearly placed an order with Preferred Plants. The tab with shipping went so close to $100.00 I just couldnt do it and chose some others from Brushwoods.
I really hated to see the SG go but bucks is bucks.
I am so psyched with the co-op ,now I can have Stolwyjks and the three from Brushwood for a fraction.
Al's right with the world.
here is the list Victor

Thanks - very nice.
the tornado orchid is the one with only 1 started so far
Wow, im so glad you did that because I've been thinking it but haven't done it. It's a bit early for me to start but im itching to!! I'll watch yours for a month, then i'll start mine. lol
LOL... well can only hope for the best... keep you posted
sometimes they grow easy... and sometimes NOT
So there will be a tornado watch?
knowing my OCD... there will be a tornado watch every hour
:)
Whooo hooooo onewish has babys and most importantly baby dahlias! That is so exciting! When is your planting out date? O I so want to wake up my dahlias now. oooommmmm I will not wake up my dahlias cuz it is too early and they will be grumpy ooooommmmmm I will not wake up my dahlias....
JoAnn, check out Fairweather Gardens Nursery website. They have oodles of witch hazels. I am itching for one as well, along with a JM that I'll order and pick up at their Open House on 4/4. I am so looking forward to that.
Great news, Allison, about the babies! Tomorrow is going to be warmer, so I'll get some seed planted in my containers. I've never wintersowed before, so this will be an adventure. Did you do the geraniums and dahlias indoors, or wintersowed outside? See, I'm new to this part of gardening.
do remember to early to wake dahlia
I wake mine at the end of march
but will wet them they are to dry
Witch hazel is on my list too...I wrote the name of one I really want...now where did I put it?..^_^
It was more of a contorted shape similiar to harry's walking stick...anyone know which one? so maybe I won't have to go find the name again.
Other than the ones that started growing in November cuz I didn't have the cold room cold enough yet (oops) mine are plump and snoring peacefully scicciarella. I will be firing up the dahlia-op and greenhouse in late Feb for them (35 sleeps).
no greenhouse so I just pot mine in the basement ans start to water them then they come up and start to go out weather permiting and sleep in the garage till it is warm enough to stay out that wont be till mid may lol long time
I have 12 geraniums growing in the house right now they are nice and healthy bushy and I keep having to pinch off the blooms so they will bloom this summer my laundry room is bright and cool in low sixties and they seem very happy for now
I have no sunny windows because of the big trees. Lucky lucky you.
I wish I had a basement. or a sunny window other than in my dining room, or room for grow stands and light or......
ge1836, I redid my list and took out a few and added a few that you had marked. Here is my final wish list for the clematis coop.

6.50 CLEMATIS 'Kiri Te Kanawa'
6.50 CLEMATIS macropetala 'Lagoon'
7.00 CLEMATIS alpina 'Stolwijk Gold'
5.50 CLEMATIS 'VIOLA'
Fair Weather, ForestFarm, Avant,Greer Gardens, and Khelm's is where I am heading now to look at witch hazels, viburnums and Japanese maples. It could be an expensive day. But sitting here and looking out at no color I conclude that I must have some winter blooming witch hazel. Patti
Im waiting for RC to get up and give me her recomendations.
I went to Fairweather and just about lost my mind.
Cant decide if I like the red or yellow and there was no picture of the copper.
I crossed Viola off my list and Perry said the Mrs. George Jackman was out of the running.
I'm easy so I'll wait until next year.
I hear you. I like both the red and yellow.
I usually start my tubers in march... my plant out date is usually May 15... last year was not the case though... was almost the 1st week of June... this year should be interesting to see if I messed up my tubers when I divided or not
I have racks and lights set up in my spare bedroom & the basement... these seeds were started indoors....and I will be doing some outside sowing tomorrow as well.. was hoping the snow would melt off the deck enough to have a flat surface... getting there
Bloom times do vary with climate. Keep that in mind.
Up here in Hicksville, the rule of thumb for above ground, is Memorial Day Weekend. My friend and I cheat, we start mid May with veggies - They are grown from seed so if it frosts really no loss. Going to start with peas, carrotts & beats earlier like the begining of May. The difference is your putting in just the seed so it takes a while.
Now flowers - I dont have a clue what to do if they are not a grown plant! Welcome to my world - duhh
patti don't forget rarefind for that hunt..........
