Lovely Phoebe!!!

Syru, your son is so cute and what a great little grower! That is SO exciting! I never get tired of seeing the babies show themselves!!! Tell him congratulations! I want to see it again as it grows! What plant is it?

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

That is a leaf of Rob's Argyle Socks . . . one that I was going to toss, only because I had so many babies of it already. I'm so glad he insisted on planting it!

That is great! Kids really love seeing things like that. My son loved to plant seeds. I grew many varieties of tomatoes in CA. He thought it wasn't fun to buy plants. I planted the seeds and there are such nice old toms you can get like that. He was in High School then, ha. Not even a small child. So much clay here, no fun to plant seeds....

Hope his plant grow up nicely.

He is so cute---and his thumbs are green!!! Good job!

He grew some baby carrots over the summer. They didn't get big enough to eat, but he got a kick out of pulling one every other week, just to see how big they really were. We're going to try again this year, but with EarthBoxes, I think. They may work better in this climate than in that horrible clay.

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Syrumani..............too proud he is!! Try the earth boxes..........they are great! Once you get settled in a house where you want to stay, you can amend the soil so easily over a period of time. You can take home cow manure every time you are down here or I come up there (LOL)

The look in the pic is NOTHING like the expression on his face when he first saw the baby leaf . . . it was like I gave him an ice cream cone, or let him run free in a toy store . . .

OH, carrots are FUN!!!

Jasper, AR(Zone 7a)

How fun for both of you!! so awesome that he is interested in horticulture already--good job !!

Just came across an informative article in the AVSA Mag. Nov/Dec 08 issue that addresses my issues with accuracy of bloom color in digital photos--was under my nose the whole time! Has anyone recieved the 09 Jan/Feb issue yet?

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

Really?!? I'll have to check that one out when I get home!

South, TX

Yes, I have that issue. I remember that article.

Syru, your son is a fine gardener already!. I bet he takes good care of his little plant. It's exciting to see our kids get excited over growing plants. My kids used to take the carrot tops, when I was peeling them and set them in soup dishes of water to see them grow. They ended up with a pretty fern plant. Eventually I had to gather up my soup plates and combine their carrot tops into one. Otherwise we would be eating soup from a flat dish. LOL.

Oh! I think I have a big ol crush going on!! He's just adorable!! How wonderful that he has taken to growing plants! Good luck with the carrots this year!! Let us know how he does!!!
