Silvia is just darling!
Who hybridized Leyla, Gail? She's gorgeous too!

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

I don't know who hybridized her but............I think she came from Fleischles out of Germany. Anyone out there know?

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

I only have this link, because I've been working on the Bingo list . . . http://www.streptocarpus-info.com/tablef.html

It looks like Leyla is a series . . . the one in Gails post looks like Fleischle Leyla L-223

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Pretty!

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

I just noticed a sinningia speciosa Red Slipper from seed opening up. She may be one of the better seed grown ones.

the red dots on the inside of the bloom are only on the bottom......

last shot so you can see the red dots on the outer petal or lobes..

Sinningia speciosa Jack Evans purple is a keeper for sure. I have also grown the red and she is even better. (The seed comes from the Gesneriad Society)

Very NIce -- I will have to put both those seeds down on my list!!

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Gran......if you will wait, I know that you are dying for some of the speciosas.........when the weather gets better I will give you some. Holding on to several purple peloric just for you but the weather is too cold right now. Sinningias , as you know, hate cold weather.

Jasper, AR(Zone 7a)

Gail you are my hero!! just so you know-- I DID buy some orchids at the C of O GH--just for you--if I can manage not to kill them before it warms up--they will be on their way then. Have NO idea what they are(they are labelled--but I still don't know)--so it will be a surprise when you get them!!

Frederick, MD(Zone 7a)

Beautiful sinningias Susan and Gail..

I'm glad you finally got to see the blossom on your sinningia, Jan ^_^ Thanks!

Gorgeous episcias GoldLeaf!!!

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

I didn't tell you Goldleaf that Paul S. said he would be happy to replace my Butternut....that it had sported.

Frederick, MD(Zone 7a)

Thanks, Gran. Let's do an episcia trade in the spring. I'm still thinking about the one you got at Dave's.

That's good, Gail. There isn't anyone nicer than Paul Sorano. I'm worried that my Butternut is turning dark. I don't want it all the way dark as I do like like the contrast of the green with the bronzey red.

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Gran loves those episicias, too. I wish you didn't live in zero temperatures! I said I wasn't going to post any more photos as I need to clean up my messes. Don't ask me the names because I am in a hurry, but these are going to friend who lives close by as I don't have room for 2 full shelves of episcias. In fact, I am not keeping any as I am trading with a friend for other plants.

Gail,

As with all your plants, your episcias are lovely.

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Thanks ...........they will belong to someone else in a trade next week......too little room and too many big plants.....

Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

Gail, love your epicias. The leaves glisten in the light from your camera. Simply GEORGEOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Maybe someday again I will grow them, but I am hooked on nothing but streps, hoyas, orchids, etc right now. Now if I had someone helping me, I would grow everything........Thanks, Imadigger.

Frederick, MD(Zone 7a)

There are several I could reach out and take of those episcias before they head out your door. I wonder what the real name of "gotta vacuum"is? ^_^

Highland, IL

Love everyones pic's today!!! So Gail, what beauties will you post tomorrow, I can wait to see!! You should really open a shop!!

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

How funny are you, goldleaf! Cleaning and moving all my streps and sinningias created the biggest mess on the carpet. Most people couldn't even live as I do (or wouldn't want to , anyway). Imagine having carpet under plants.........so I feel like I spend my life with the hose attachment to the vacuum in my hand.

gotta is from south Texas (lol)

Here is a sinningia speciosa Charles Lawn mix from seed opening

I would love to open shop right here in my house but my brother laughs and says I don't have enough 'people skills' to sell plants. If I am working on my plants, I won't even talk to my own family half of the time.. Jimmy predicts that when the first person knocks on the door, I will answer the door with , "Can't you see how busy I am.......come back later!"

South, TX

Gail, so many wonderful photos!

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

But that's the beauty of it Gail! Be mail order, or "by appointment only"!

(someday . . . when I'm all growed up . . . I want to be "by appointment only" . . . sniff . . . sniff . . . or maybe during certain hours only . . . )
