Here it is walking through my winter dead bed.
Daily Pics #169
Wow, a new thread already? And so many pix already??? everyone stop being so busy!! :)
Mrs_Ed - so glad you didn't hurt yourself!
And great shots, everyone, as always! Nothing exciting here. The chickadees come and go, and every now and then I see a couple pine siskins. I took a day off from feeding the birds (there was still food there, but none they were real happy about), so it quieted down. And of course the pileateds coming for the suet.
Wow you guys have been super busy! Great pics all!
Dave, Congrats on the Pine Sisken if it's a new one for you.
Hi Resin,
I didn't know/realize that when I add the date (example: 1/4/09, 1/3/09 and the like; meaning the month of January.) here and on the Bird Files pics, was a 'problem'. Being American, I write the way we do here in America. I am sorry for any and all confusion to other members in other countries. Forgive me, it was just a shortcut on my part to the date of my pics, as that form of date shows up for my photos. I'll try and remember from now on not to do it. If I 'slip up', please 'call me on it'. :-)
Great pics everyone! I had hoped to try and take more photos today after taking DH to the Airport, but was tired and napped instead. It would have been a good afternoon to take photos, as we are getting bad weather tonight and tomorrow and the birds were out feasting. It has been a long time since I snapped pics and I like trying to get pics. I took the above photos from an open window in the house and today, being chilly, I would have to do the same.
duc,
I have a big Stokes finch feeder, but it is pretty heavy, even without adding thistle seed to it. I might have to get it out the garage and use it again. :-) http://www.stokesselect.com/products/template/product_detail.php?PHPSESSID=7fc74ba7737a547e2795c109de2fec41&item_id_D=122 I do have this Stokes finch feeder that I have been using http://www.stokesselect.com/products/template/product_detail.php?PHPSESSID=7fc74ba7737a547e2795c109de2fec41&item_id_D=125 and I have been using this Stokes finch feeder with thistle also, http://www.stokesselect.com/products/template/product_detail.php?PHPSESSID=7fc74ba7737a547e2795c109de2fec41&item_id_D=6

Only people that do not work for the Goverment of America write it that way. I read that as March too...
burn,
Cute and adorable photo of the Hairy sitting! :-)
I love your photo of those Pine Grosbeaks! Colorful, beautiful and charming!
Juney,
Yes, I forgot that the American Government writes the date that way (day/month/year). :-)

Thanks all! Didn't know the US Govt. used dd/mm/yy!
Very nice Pine Grosbeaks. I'm envious!
Resin
onewish,
Very nice Titmouse photo! What feeder is that has the peanuts in the shell? I like it. Where did you find it?
Marilyn
that was from lowes and real cedar too (it smelled so good I almost didn't want to put it out).... we just slid the plastic off the front.. my honey modified it to be a pole mount... and added a bucket under so the chipmunks will stay out come spring
here is a pulled out shot... what we didn't realize is our wood rack is too close ... and the squirrels can jump right on top... but my two yorkies have been doing a good job keeping them away
That is a nice shot!
thank you Pelle.... I don't post most of mine... they can't compete with all yours...
when i get a good one ... I HAVE to post it
;)
We have all levels of photogs and equipment here so please don't hesitate to post.
It's about the bird! And how exciting a Tufted Titmouse is to get (for me).
Beautiful pics, and that young Eagle shot is worth posting twice.
Thanks Marilyn.
Onewish, I love your little Titmouse, I don't have any here.
Resin would you be envious of a Hoary (Arctic) Redpoll, too? ;)
I think I got a few here, but need your help, to make sure. I'm pretty certain the one on the bottom right is one, but not certain on the other ones.
Edited to change bottom left to right. All other to be considered Common Redpolls.

oooohhh I love those evening grosbeaks!!!!... what great colors
I will just say you all have great pics!!
About the date thing ...boy, don't look at my pics in the bird files! lol
I didn't get much today have to get them on the computer yet. I did some work out in the yard plus laundry instead of bird searching since it is supposed to get nasty tomorrow.
Resin would you be envious of a Hoary (Arctic) Redpoll, too? ;)
Somewhat, but not as much as Pine Grosbeak!
I'm pretty certain the one on the bottom left is one, but not certain on the other ones.
The one at the far right definitely is, with that large clean (unstreaked) white rump and under-tail. Of the others, centre left is definitely Common, the other two best left unidentified redpoll (sp.).
I think this one also. quite white around the neck and back.
Not convinced on this one; it is too heavily streaked on its flanks to be a definite. I'd like to see its rump and under-tail coverts before deciding.
Resin
Good the Hoary Redpolls are back!
Wow! The hoary's are there already. I haven't even seen a common here yet. I wonder if I even will.
Agree that the evening grosbeaks are stunning.
HA Nanny!
No problem, for interesting birds like these, rules are made to be broken! Do please add some more Punta Arenas pics if you have any.
