Daily Pics #169

PERTH, Australia

The last thread was getting a bit long. Full of fabulous birds and we had some good laughs, mostly with thanks to Nanny and Mrs Ed.

We'd love to see your bird pictures and welcome all newcomers.

We came from here: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/939273/#top

I posted some shots of this juvenile Sacred Kingfisher from New Year's Day on another thread so I hope you don't mind a repeat here.

Very nice pics everyone!

Margaret, Thanks for starting the new thread with the wonderful Kingfisher.

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

Wow GP and Marilyn, you've been busy.

Nice birdie, Margaret! Oh and yes, I forgot to mention yesterday that i DID deplete the batteries and had to change them right when the Eagle was close up.

Which brings me to a different subject that I had forgotten. Batteries deplete in the cold. And voila you have them back when you are warm and cozy.

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

I am just glad you didn't break you camera...or your bum!!!

It is cold out, but looks like might have a bit of sun today so hope I can MAYBE get outside for some pics.

Have been over on the Camersa forum reading about the Panasonic DMC-FZ28. Told DH that is what I want. I just don't think I want to go the DSLR route...to much money for us, because I would want a variety of lenses! He is thinking it over...I have a birthday in March, so I am hoping!! :)

Clinton, MD(Zone 7a)

Man I go away for a day to get some bird shots and there's a new Bird thread. They seem to last on average about 3 days. Well, I went to the Blackwater Natural Wildlife Refuge yesterday and when I arrived in the parking lot the first bird I saw was................. drum roll. I couldn't stop the truck fast enough. I ended up parking in the middle of the parking lot. Fortunately, no one was there. Needless to say my day was made and nothing else mattered.

It was far away but I was able to get some usable pictures.

Margarett that Kingfisher has a beak I would not want to reckon with.
