Please name this houseplant!

Jacksonville, FL

The leaves are fleshy, glossy dark green and once or twice a year it puts out a shoot atop which are white, six-petal flowers. It likes low light and moist soil. Can you tell me the name? Thank you so much!

Sorry--like JuneyBug I don't know what it is either but had to say it sure is a beautiful plant. Hope someone knows--maybe I can find one to buy. I'm such a sucker for plants :-}

hey Lizbeth I think it is a peace lilly of some kind. My friend recieved a plant from a relative and it looked just like this one. Very nice!

Peace lilies have a different sort of flower, if your friend's plant has flowers like this then it's not a peace lily. Here's a pic of the peace lily so you can see what the flower looks like: http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/57837/ I agree it looks like Eucharis and if I recall correctly that's what the experts on the Plant ID forum said it was.

Definately a Eucharis Lily. We used to get these plants in the florist shop i worked at years ago very heady fragrance and delightfully beautiful plant.

Lizabeth:

That is a beautiful plant you have there! I agree with the ID of Eucharis grandiflora, commonly known as "Amazon Lily": http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/2678/
