Your eagle seems to be giving you the old "eagle eye" Marna! Great capture Crazy of the cardinal and waxwings. Hooded merganser and coots amazing Bsharf. Way tooooo many fantastic shots to comment on. It's wonderful to see such a variety of birds.
After seeing the photos and comments regarding pine siskens on past threads, I was able to i.d. this single individual who has been visiting my nyger along with the American goldfinches. In fact, I thought he/she was a goldfinch at first.
DAILY PICS VOL 167
Hey Crazy what in the world is that swirling behind the Meadowlarks?
When I hear Meadowlark I associate that with the Harlem Globetrotters.
Cool pic of the Meadowlarks in the grass CB...I never see them there until they fly up in my face! Love the Waxwings and Turkeys!
Mrs. Ed...that Eagle is looking at you looking at him/her!!
Nice window shot of the Doves Anita and love the Eagle portrait.
OP...I have Pine Siskins this morning, they sure can empty the thistle feeders!
Thanks everyone...and Methodical, that blurry-whirly looking thing is a board from the fence around the pasture. Guess I should have taken it out somehow! I remember the Globe Trotters!! Meadowlark Lemon!!?
Great Eagle shot Anita!
I've never had Pine Siskins, but that might be a good thing. The Goldfinches eat enough all by themselves!
Nice shots Met! I love the Eastern Phoebe;I've never seen one.
I get very few American Goldfinch because of hawks now.
Very nice shots everyone!
That's a nice variety in one small spot Lily!
Thanks for the explanation gardenpom, squirrels can be a nuisance but the Grackles wouldn't think so would they! Mine seem to have disappeared but will likely return to chew my new peanut silo to pieces again!
Great shots all! That's a very nice capture of the American Gold Finch methodical!
You guys have been very busy, I better get my act together before this thread ends. So many to want to comment on, but by the time i"ll be done doing it, you guys will be a the next thread. So nice to see everyone, little birdies and big birdies.
The waxwings were coming to check once in a while, I could see them in next door's tree. But never came down.
To lure them to come down to my yard, I threw some crabapples, and old grapes on the ground near the house. I had collected some Mountain Ashes berries in the fall, and had blueberries in my freezer. So I put some of those in a platform feeder. It worked!!! Had a great bunch of Bohemian Waxwings here yesterday, and today.
omgosh burn, that's amazing!
Nice shot of the Bohemian Waxwing. Shows the features nicely.
Thanks Pelle.
Methodical - Do the phoebes winter in your neighborhood? I had one at my suburban bird feeder this past summer. I could hear him in the shrubs before I ever saw him.
Crazy - I bought a bag of "Songbird" seed to try enticing pine siskens. It's produced by Scotts, the grass seed people. It has a variety of small seeds that can be poured into a nyjer feeder. I think the dark-eyed juncos and American goldfinches will enjoy it, too.
Ah ha Burn! I'll go out and raid the neighbor's mountain ash that blew over in the last storm! Maybe the waxwings will stop by.
Love the little brown creeper mrs. ed.
Ok. Guess I got my phoebe answer from gp! Love the southern birdies gp. I just might have to take Southwest up on their cheap $89 on-way flights just to see some of those buntings.
I'll guess Red-tailed Hawk on that GP.
Nice Indigo Buntings!
Nice pics everyone...I'm jealous of the Waxwings and Brown Creeper and I miss the Indigo Buntings terribly!
I put some grapes out in my platform feeder to see if it would draw some Cesar Waxwings in. Oh and Mrs. Ed found somewhere that they like peas too!!
I put some grapes out, I have no idea who will take them. I thought perhaps a cardinal or two.
