DAILY PICS VOL 167

Lincoln, United Kingdom(Zone 8a)

They all have to eat don't they. The Hawk probably thought you wanted some of his dinner. :) I saw a Kestrel a few years back just a few feet from my back door, it had taken a Collared Dove which is a big bird compared to it. It flew off but returned when I wasn't watching to eat the breast off.

Clinton, MD(Zone 7a)

Hey Pelletory that is a great shot. Lucky you. What are the odds?

With all those Starlings, the Hawk had an easy catch

Speaking of Starlings here's just part of the group today. Thanks Met!

Wow, that's a lot of Starlings. I have three different feeders out and the ones in my area never come close to them. I think they're such pretty birds-even if lots of people dislike them.

Great photos Pelletory and Wallaby!!

Marlton, NJ

They are beautiful bird. Their squeaky voices crack me up when their at the top of a tree.

Lincoln, United Kingdom(Zone 8a)

Wow pelle, I hope you have a deep pocket to feed all those, lol! Great capture!

Thanks ducbuc, as dull as it was, lol.

Hebron, KY

Happy New Year everyone!

Very nice pics everyone!

On the ground also. Did not get a chance for much else. It was windy and very cloudy most of the day.

nice posts everyone.

This was a funny site today when I stopped by the park. These mallards are definitely used to being fed!

Nice pics everyone! I want a Flicker at my feeders!!!

GP, Do you know which type of Grackle you get?

Melbourne, FL

I used to see the Boat-tailed a lot on the coast, but here all I get is the Common Grackle.

Wow, look at all the pictures in this brand new thread. Can you tell we all have the day off :)

dellrose - I've never seen that harris sparrow before, thanks for posting!

Here are the pix of what I think are pine siskins. They were here in large numbers yesterday (or day before? I lose track!). This is a close up of them on the finch feeder.

here's another shot, on a couple other feeders. you can see the yellow in the wing on the bottom right one.

That's a lot of Grackles GP! What were they feeding on under the tree?
Nice shots nanny, I like the Downy Woodpecker, and you have sun! ;)
The kid doesn't look very happy about feeding the Mallards, with parent sat in the car, lol, forced labour?

Essex Junction, VT(Zone 4a)

here's a large group feeding from the ground. Can't remember how many are in this picture, but we counted around 20 in another picture or two. And that's all I could get in one shot. Plus there were more under the feeders, and of course on the feeders.

That's a lot of Mallards Marna!!

Nanny...I need whatever that Flicker is eating!

Pelle and GP...The Red-winged Blackbirds are eating us out of house and home! Thankfully they just stay long enough to clean out the feeders! LOL!

Thanks Evie..and yes those are Pine Siskins...lucky you!

The chickadees were able to get in every now and then.

Yep, Pine Siskins, all 20 of them (and the ones on the feeders too).

Resin

The Ozarks, MO(Zone 5b)

That is a lot of Pine Siskins...I heard that they are very fussy about where they eat...you are doing something right!

Cute litte Chickadee!

Essex Junction, VT(Zone 4a)

I didn't recognize that female red-winged blackbird. Always so used to seeing the males, I forgot what the females looked like :)

and starlings always come in large numbers! It is always amazing to see, though not always wanted since they keep the other birds away.

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

Resin,

Sure looked that way. But that kid was having a blast!

Essex Junction, VT(Zone 4a)

re: the pine siskins - they are eating the niger seed and the goldfinches rarely do. hopefully they'll come back because I have bags to get rid of :)

Essex Junction, VT(Zone 4a)

and I just saw that pic with the kid. hilarious, Resin!!

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

I want some of those Pine Siskins!!

I think the flicker is eating the nuts I put out there, but not really sure.

Wilmar, AR(Zone 8a)

Thanks, Nanny, but it is very rare that I see that many birds on my way to work. I was so tickled to see them, the owl especially.

Great pics everyone

Here is my first ever pics of Eastern Meadowlarks! Not a great shot but I'm proud of it anyway.

I also saw some Wild Turkeys yesterday evening when I was coming home from work...this has been a nice birding week so far...better than usual anyway

aww, nice Crazy!

I want some meadowlarks. :( …and some waxwings… and some more exotic sparrows. …and…and…

I started an eagle thread. But here is a different picture of one looking stern at me

Thumbnail by Mrs_Ed
central, NJ(Zone 6b)

He doesn't look like he likes his picture being taken.

PERTH, Australia

Looks like a stern and disapproving maiden aunt.

Melbourne, FL

Love the Eagle, Mrs_Ed. Wallaby, they were cleaning up all the seed that is dumped from the feeder everyday, mostly by the squirrels.

Long Island, NY(Zone 6b)

I tried taking a few through the window - only a few came out ok. Here are my Mourning Doves.

I too loved the Eagle. Here's one I took during the summer at a local ecology site. I have Screech Owls by me, but have yet to see them. I hear them, but as soon as I go out they hide. I know they are giggling as they do this!!!!
