DAILY PICS VOL 167

Klamath River, CA

A new thread for a New year. Pelle asked me to start this thread so I went out this afternoon looking for a pic with which to start it with. The only thing I found was this Great Blue Heron............I saw it and it saw me and got nervous...........

I had already posted these at the bottom of 166 but figured no one would see them there so I'm putting them here, also.

Here are 3 profile shots of the Red Tailed Hawk (not sure which kind) that I got at the local nature center. They are in the wild but behind a fence. For now, I have to get them by any means necessary since I can't catch them up close in the wild.

I have similar shots of the Bald Eagle behind the fence. Again, I have to get them anyway I can since I have not gotten lucky to catch them in the wild. He had a perfect non-distractive backdrop.

Happy New Year Adel and the BW Forum and thanks for the new thread and the Heron shots!

CB...I would love to get a pic of an Owl...lucky you!

Met..Nice shots...love the Bald Eagle, you are doing great with your new equipment!

The brush piles and I have become the closest of friends and that is where I can be found in good light! Here is a Dark-eyed Junco taken at one of them.

The Harris's Sparrow is still at the same pile I spotted him...looks like he will spend the winter here.

The Song Sparrows are such shy birds...this was taken by a little creek that usually runs all year.

So lucky to see an Owl in the day crazybird!
Love the first shot of the White-Breasted Nuthatch methodical, and the rest!
rose, very nice shot of the Dark-eyed Junco, others great too, I need a brush pile but also need to put some sun on order. :)
bsharf, all I can say is, lucky you!
Wow ducbuc, fantasitc GB Heron shots!

OK, so I told a little fib yesterday, I did have some pics I got of a Pied Wagtail which was on my 'lawn' picking up bread crumbs I guess as I put some out. Oh well, when it's as grey as you can get one just has to post what one has. I saw a Magpie wing too flying from some oat mix I had put out, lol!

Nice one wallaby!

Just heard alot of commotion in the yard. Found this Sharp-shinned Hawk that had captured a bird. Looks like it might be a European Starling by the spots on it.

Thumbnail by pelletory
Lincoln, United Kingdom(Zone 8a)

Wow pelle, great shot! I do feel sorry for the Starling though, but that is nature!

Marlton, NJ

This was the first time I've seen a Starling taken. Seeing that their numbers are so much higher than other birds I'd prefer to see them taken but it's never pleasant.

I tried to go outside to take a pic but he took his catch behind the shed. :-)
