Somethings' in the pond??

North, TX

As I was trying to clear fallen leaves and cattails (apparently way too late to avoid a mess) from the pond, I ran into these two round things sitting on a leaf near the edge of the pond. I'm not really sure what they are but didn't want to disturb them if they are some sort of eggs or something? They are orange w/reddish dots about the size of kumquats. There are several types of fish living in the pond although I cannot name them other than catfish and bass.

Didn't really know where to post? But does this look familiar to anyone?

Thank you for any imput you have to offer.

I'll take a stab at it and say that it looks like some sort of canker and is not eggs. Fish lay their eggs on the bottom of the pond. It's probably harmless, but I'd get it out of there.

Thank you, I am just learning and appreciate your advise. I went over to the water garden forum and learned that they are produced by the oak tree in response to the irritation of insects' egg case on the tree, which in turn encases and protects the developing bugs!! Wow, now that is something I did not know until today :)

If every day we learn something new, it's a day well spent.

Words of wisdom for sure!! I'm learning a bunch today because I didn't realize fish would only lay their eggs on the bottom of the water either! Mother nature is a never ending display of wonder for me.
