Palm Warbler 2.
Daily Pics Volume 162
Wow GP, you've quite the selection!
Thanks, actually most of the day I was upset how few birds were around....I got most of these shots late afternoon.
Lou, the bowl has an element enclosed in the bottom of it. You simply plug it in and it heats up. I've had the water freeze at the top before and remain warmer on the bottom, so I stopped filling it so full. Now it seems to have gone kapoot on me.
Your fountain is kinda pretty with that ice. You might want to try to turn the pump off (and remove it so it doesn't get damaged) and put one of the bird bath deicers in the fountain bowl.
Your bowl when Kapoot , how long have you had it? Hope mine doesn't give up on me. I set it up on a timer, so it turns off at night and back on in the morning. I have the same problem as Nanny, with the bowl freezing to the table I set it up on. When I want to change the water I pick up table and all and empty it.
GP that's a nice shot of the male Painted Bunting best pose.
LouC I like your bird bath with the ice real pretty.
Rose awww poor little Titmouse, looks so sad, there's no Sun. Like how his head is against the chain link fence, it's as if he's looking out the window. And his expression, says it all.
Well I'm not done showing you pictures of the Evening Grosbeak.
GP...love the Woodstork. Would like to see one of those!
Burn...I am sooooo dying to see an Evening Grosbeak. The just don't look real! We are supposed to have them here in the winter. They are eating the BOSS out of that feeder, right?
Yes, they and the Pine Grosbeak do eat the BOSS in the big feeders. They will also eat on the platform or on the ground. I only seen one female Pine Grosbeak so far. I'm getting anxious to see them. and the Redpolls.
Gardenpom, you do post the most interesting pics of birds that I don't see this far North. The wood stork and the painted bunting, just to metion two. The cranes, also, captured my interest in part because of their bustle.
thanks for posting. Lee
Love the Wood Stork GP!
Beautiful Evening Grosbeaks burn!
Terrific pics guys!
That male grosbeak is really something, Burn!
I've only had the blue bowl since last year. I remember a couple of times last year it did not work. I've unplugged ita and moved it . Now I have it on a different drop cord, so we'll see if that works. If not, I'm going to set up my winter island pond deicer in a tub of water!
This was from the weekend. My quest to get a good picture of a titmouse continues. It was really windy this day and the shy ones were not cooperating when I was outside.
With today's snow chickadees & titmice very busy on the feeder. A cardinal, juncos & mourning doves busy on the ground.
LOL, that's quite a butterball Marna!
Nice pics everyone!
As DH and I were looking out the patio door this afternoon, all of a sudden, we saw a (gasp!) Cedar Waxwing land on one of the container pots! We were so excited at seeing this beautiful bird! We hadn't seen one for years! We have a birdbath on the patio (that we add a heater to in the cold months), so maybe he was heading to the birdbath, don't know for sure, because he only stayed for about a minute and flew away.
nanny,
That's wonderful you have an American Tree Sparrow in your yard! I was just thinking about them today and looking forward to seeing them back in the yard! I'll have to keep a keen eye for them in the coming days!
The weather here hasn't been what I thought it was supposed to be. Alot of cold and 'wintry' days. Not much sun, either. Would love to try and get some pics if I'm able to.
So glad you are back!!!!!!!
Well, you should have LOTS of great pics to share then, huh?? :)
Thanks nanny. I gotta tell you I was suffering some serious withdrawal!
Not a lot of good pix for you, sorry. During that time I had a major fall and have some nerve damage to my right hand. Holding the camera is quite difficult, and shooting is more so.
I saw this Northern Pygmy Owl on Thanksgiving day, and last week it was on a wire just outside the house.
