This one is pretty special as her name is Heidi.
Streptocarpus
Joy to the world back at you, gessiegail..
I always love seeing your strep beauties and your camera does a great job of photographing them. Post some more.
mrsbonnie, I know what you mean about the Apaches getting big. As far as violets go, I will only grow a few of my most favorites. Like everyone else, I only have so much room. While I like everything gessie wise, I have to pick and choose what can take up shelf space. I am into the streps now and they take a lot of space. Plus, I do want to keep growing some episcias and and sinningias, etc. I used to grow lots of kohlerias, too. So, my focus on violets will be some trailers and mini types....and only a few standards that I will make room for no matter what. I forgot, I have chiritas also. Chirita "Rachel" is getting ready to bloom...love that one. I post a photo or two when the buds open.
I messed up on some streps..........show them when I take pics again.
Think I might just pot up babies tonight while the football game is on! Too cold to go outside.........
Wow, Gail. Look at all of those stunning colors! So beautiful!
That Franken Copper Knob is an absolute winner...luscious. And, doesn't Pink Leyla have the sweetest face? Tropical Twister is so bright and pretty. Wow!
Thanks for the seed offer. You should try some crosses this new year and see what happens. I still need to sow some seed I have.
I am making this to bring to my sister's on Christmas Eve. Everyone loves it.

I am the only one who hasn't even been to the grocery yet. So..........I will get the ingredients for this for sure!
I don't know how to hybridize, Goldleaf! I think my hands shake too much to even try...........
Isn't that Franken Copper Knob a real winner!
Love your Apache's, Goldleaf. I love them too. Ruffles, pink, variegation, you just can't lose with that!
YUMMY!
its easy gail,i can talk you through it,all you need is a tiny paint brush and to be able to pull off a flower
JIM
Jim, some night this winter you can tell me over the phone how to do it. I even bought a small tiny makeup brush to learn but still don't know how.
Guess what I potted up in a bigger pot this weekend? It would Royal Hope..........your very own creation in a strep. I can't wait for her to bloom.
I also have 3 small seed pods on Sensation. I just might have to grow some of those out as Sensation herself is divine looking.
Thanks, Sally, I agree and yes, that Snickers Pie is yummy ^_^
Try hybridizing, Gail. What have you got to lose? maybe you'll get something fantastic. Probably when Jim steps you through it, you'll be surprised at how easy it is. Sometimes I try to think of good names and I don't even have a plant, lol! Maybe this coming year. The only seedpod I have now is on Bristol's Petticoats. I would really like to see some flower improvement on variegated plants. Like 2-tones, netted, fantasy,etc...something interesting and different.
I love that! YOu are thinking of names and you don't have a plant yet!! That makes my day laughing.
****DROOL***** is the word of the day. Gold/Gail---your blooms are just gorgeous. I really like the Persian Carpet and Shen. Something Special.
I'm in a pitiful state right now. I have lots of non-gesneriad plants that are near and dear to my heart that I must get rid of in order to make more room for more gessies. I don't know what I'm going to do! Philos, begonias, sansevierias, hoyas......I can't stand to part with not one of them. I live in an apartment so space is very limited. Anyway, I'll pray that by Spring I get up enough gumption to sell them so that I can stock my shelves with gessies.:) I joined the Gesneriad Society yesterday and am anxious to receive my first publication.
The 2009 Annual Gesneriad Society's Convention is going to be in Silver Spring, Maryland next year. I'm happy that I'm able to go since it's in state. Susan, are you planning to come, since it's close to VA? I would guess that Keyring would come as well.
Hugs to All!
Shanika
Gail, what kind of camera do you have?
It takes good macro shots....
Have to catch the brownies in a hurry out of the oven.............
It says Nikon D40 but I just leave it on a couple of settings.........haven't seen the CDs that come with it yet. After all, I have only had it almost a year now (LOL)
