OH MY that does sound delicious!!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Imagine that, baking done without burning anything..just made a vow to myself, no more giving pies or cakes in my good pirex dishes..just one pie plate left out of about 8..so in this storm because I started this project I had to go to the grocery store..grrrrr...have frozen enough meat to do 2 more pies closer to christmas when I'm doing my regular pies...

I'm hungry, haven't eaten yet today but nope, smells in the kitchen are divine but these are for Christmas, not tonight..

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

I have a siumilar recipe-when I get home tomorrow I will have to find it and post it-the bottom layer is the same, but walnuts instead of pecans, and then there are 2 layers on top and it is MY FAVE desert I have ever had (next to DQ ice cream cake of course)!!!

OK-I supose all is forgiven;)

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

TY:) Don't want my favoritest niece unhappy with me.....

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

tee hee hee-would never happen:)

Betty,

Since you make so many pies......

There is talk on the "Tomato Pie" Post in the recipes forum about baking ALL pies and breads inside a brown paper bag for amazing even baking and browning......
This discussion just started uo--go to the very bottom and work your way back about a dozen posts and read on.

Will go check it out Gita...

While all are sleeping cozy in their beds, I'm waking to a winter wonderland...waiting for daybreak so I can snowblow my way out..if I remember how Mike explained to get the blower going? lol...

Joys of living in the north country...

Back to Mrs. Santa, talk later

Pacifica, CA

morning all,

betty im going to make you laugh here we are sunny days and were at 43 this morning and freezing! ment to ask you do you spray any kind of mat or shine clear on the plaster santa's?well off to inlaws.

judy did you build that mini snowman yet?

have a wonderful day everyone

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Betty-a winter wonderland huh??LOL Well, be carfeul with that blower-DH does love his-I swear he acts like Tim Taylor from "Home Improvment" when he uses it!!LOL

Victoria Harbour, ON

What I wouldn't give Liz for those temps...

No I didn't spray them, doesn't mean you can't though..had thought maybe with glueing the beard I'd best not..so little is exposed and not to the elements so guess the answer is no..but yes if you want to..lol

Mom called me last night and says she wants to go to Florida..but 2 BUT'S...doesn't want to go before Jim goes to the specialist on the 19th..I had planned leaving at 1:00 on the 19th., the other BUT, waiting for one more test...and then BUT says she "IF" I'm not feeling well closer to our leaving time then I'll not go ...

So help me out here...

Ache in the pit of my stomach re this decision...

1. Greg's 40th birthday New Years Day, will confirm with
DIL Melanie if she's doing anything, if not I might have

2. IF I have my Christmas dinner either next Sat. or Sun.
and still have to confirm this morning if my kids are all
available AND she changes her mind then my
Christmas is done with and it would be lonely

Don't get me wrong, still would spend time with the kids
but wouldn't be the same

3. Can tell I'm getting older, worry about the what IF's
.what if there is bad weather travel I75 half way down
..could hit several state with blizzards???

The UP side, enjoy my time down there...

So what to do, what to do, help me out here please......

Victoria Harbour, ON

Stacey, haven't been out yet, thought I'd wait till the wind died down which it now has...might give Greg a call and have him come over just to make sure for the first time I'm doing it right...

OMG Bernice from across the street called last night, said she'd seen my car home this past week and wondered if I was ok...remember her daughter Michelle whom we all prayed for last fall, hubby got into dope, Michelle left, then reconciled as he said he'd given it up, the the week of Christmas didn't he go to steal copper from a compound and was electricuted at 36 (? around there) well wait until you hear what happened..no can't tell you now, I'm on a mission, but will sit a little later this a.m. to tell you the story that Bernice told me....

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Betty-do what makes you happy and don't let you mom make you hang all your plans in the balance-why not take someone lese with you if you mom flakes on you?? Or why not do to her what she is doing to you-wait until like Dec 18th and tell her you think you'll not go.....tee hee hee.....she seems to think that you wil rescedule and rearrange around her, so why not be fickle to her for once so she knows how it feels...sorry-can you tell I have a headache and am not feeling nice....

Crozet, VA

Aww Fairy, headaches and feeling bad are allowed. Just if it last too long, someone here will begin bugging you to get to see a doctor about it. ha-ha Good to have "sisters" watching out for us.

I made notes for my responses, but need to go away from keyboard for a while. I will return and comment on what has been said here yesterday and already today. Betty, I will also post a recipe when I get back. I just went and pulled out the recipes that I will be needing over the next few weeks. So much to do, so much to do.

Ruby

Victoria Harbour, ON

OK, haven't talked to mom Stacey yet today, but managed to talk to 2 DIL's and 2 sons and housekeeper..lol..now watch after I've all my plans set she changes her mind but that's ok..

We will have our Christmas Sunday and will leave for Florida on the 19th . Should something happen that mom can't go I'll either decide to make the trip on my own or I'll stay home and still enjoy time with family...

Braedon has a hockey game on Sunday in Alliston but it's 3:30 pm and would take about 1 hr. to get here so he'll not go..Kyle will turn 13 Sunday so we'll have a double celebration...

As for Greg's birthday, Melanie is planned on Sunday Jan. 3rd. to have a drop in at her house all aft. and evening so said if I didn't come back early enough for it, no problem, we'd have a get together the following weekend all of us for supper...

Called Cathy to see if she would come and live here for 2 weeks and she said she'd like to (gives her a break from living with her parents) ..

Think I've everything under control..will go out this aft. to get what I need for cabbage rolls and stuffed peppers and get that done then next weekend only have to buy ham and turkey..as for the turkey apparently the butcher in the IGA here will if you bring him your dressing will debone the turkey and stuff it ready for cooking..will see if that can be done for Sat.

I've 2 of your cakes in the freezer Ruby, so that along with maybe the birthday cake and a few other pies will be sufficient...

Guess I'd best get a move on then, I could make my flower arrangement today, not put the live flowers in till next Friday so they'll be fresh, greenery, it will keep for weeks...

Looking forward to more of your yummy recipe's Ruby and Stacey, look after that headache..think it's the stress of your job....almost positive of that...

So off and RUNNING!

Forgot to show you the finished product..

Making her dress longer...

So will be spending the day flittering from one project onto the next hoping that when nightfall come I'll have accomplished much...

That that my dilema is over, descisions made, am feeling better...

Plan will all come together, of that I know...at least I don't have to worry about getting Christmas shopping done, it's all wrapped and under the tree....

This is the photo of the Mrs. Claus..I'm making her dress longer, not quite to the floor but almost...lots of sewing in the apron..and will embroider (not me but my machine) the apron... no pantaloons or bow, but fur along the bottom, narrower, should look nice...wish you all lived closer, we could have a work day....

Betty, you are one busy lady!!!!

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

Awww, Betty! Your Santa suit is priceless and will see many, many "moons" of use--of that i am sure!
I think you should make pantaloons for Mrs. Santa. Not long ones--maybe to the knee--with some pretty lace edging--just in case she sits and crosses her legs, etc..... bends over or something--it is so cute, and old-fashioned, to have pantaloons showing......

AND-------------for one who says she doesn't really COOK????? You have impressed me to no end! All that you are telling us you are making--what do you call that???
Blustery and below freezing cold here---but a sunny day.

Will go out in a couple of hours to a friends house in the "boondocks" to make boxwood wreaths. She always invites about 3 or 4 women friends to do this and then we eat hot soup and bread and drink wine. I just sliced up some fresh Pineapple and alternated it with wedges of a Pomegranate on a pretty, glass plate. Will also take them some of my home-made Pesto I make and freeze. A lovely way to spend the day.

Her hubby and she bought this house some years ago, and it sits on what used to be a Boxwood Nursery. Everywhere you look are beautiful Boxwoods bushes growing. They have sold many--NOT a cheap shrub! So, Annie (the wife) cuts out many of the small bunches (aka "hands") to open up the bushes a bit and that is what we use.
I am going to make one for my daughter to put on her door.
Not sure I will do more than that......I have something else I use on my door.

Enjoy all your Holiday get-togethers! And Betty--you KNOW that everything will come together! You fuss about things just like me--but everything is always OK at the end.
Right?????

Sounds like a fun afternoon you have planned Gita. I hope that you have fun.

Betty, my goodness, you really are preparing a feast. All sounds really great.

Okay, now from notes earlier.

Carol, beautiful decorated deck.

Betty, so glad that Sailor saw the Vet and will hopefully be getting some relief soon. I mailed out a package of "pill pockets" to you last week. They are super moist meaty treats that has one of the ends open where you put the pet medication and then squeeze shut. I have been using them for Lucky and a horse pill size thing that he takes daily. It goes right down. Tell Sailor the pill pocket treats are from me. ha-ha There might also be a few other things in the box that I shipped, so unwrap carefully.

Interesting to hear of your formers employments Betty. Interesting that you drove a bus. I was the Account Clerk for our municipal bus service from 1985 until about 1993. I counted about two thousand dollars worth of mainly coins daily. Thankfully I had a large mechanical coin counter. It was very interesting work the rest of the time when not counting change in a little room all to myself because I sat out front of the office where the dispatchers sat and I was able to hear everything that went on between the office and about fifteen buses out on the street. Never, never a dull moment. Oh yeah, towards the end of working there we also took over operations of school buses too, so never a quiet time in that office. I believe that there were about 40 school buses out each day. I would sometimes be asked to taxi folks too who had called and complained about a bus leaving them. I sometimes drove a 15 passenger van and ran over lots of sidewalks with the rear tire. I could never have driven one of the giant buses, I am sure.

Wanted to comment to dragon about her cutie kitty. That is one pampered pet and the picture of the kitten laying asleep in front of what looks like the bottom to an oil lamp was precious. Thanks for sharing.

Zhinu, no problem with sharing the cake recipe elsewhere. Let me know what people say who try it. Thanks. Thank you for invite to recipe forum but if I do begin reading or posting there, it will be after the holidays. I have several threads that I haven't checked in weeks due to so much reading and so little time it seems.

Fairy, did I read right about your Pug being named Ruby? How hilarious. I have always wanted a Pug. They are so cute I think. ha-ha

Betty one more thing was to tell you that my oldest son was a New Years Baby too. He will be turning 28 on his birthday.

So, that is all for now. Here is wishing everyone a good day. Oops, almost forgot the recipe. Will start another post for it.

I wanted to share another favorite from my childhood. I tried them last Christmas and think that I dropped too much of the batter balls per cookies, because they were a lot larger than I remember my mom and her friends making. I will try to do smaller balls this year.

Cherry Wink Cookies

Ingredients:

3/4 cup of shortening (I used butter) 1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup white sugar 1 cup chopped pecans
2 eggs 1cup dates, pitted and chopped
2 tablespoons milk 1/3 cups maraschino cherries, chopped
1 teaspoon vanilla extract 2 1/2 cups crushed corn flake cereal
2 1/4 cups sifted all-purpose flour 10 maraschino cherries, quartered
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda

Directions:

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Lightly grease baking sheets.

Cream the shortening with the sugar. Blend in the eggs, milk and vanilla.

Sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Add the flour mixture to the creamed mixture and mix well. Stir in the chopped pecans, chopped dates and 1/3 cup of the maraschino cherries.

Shape teaspoonful sized chunks of dough into balls. Roll each ball in the crushed corn flakes. Place balls on the prepared baking sheets and top each cookie with 1/4 cherry.

Bake at 375 degrees (190 C) for 10 to 12 minutes. Let cool completely before storing in airtight container.

These cookies were made yearly by my mother and some of her co-workers. They would take turns hosting the kitchen where they would prepare them. They spent several hours in the evening baking these things. We always came home with so many that my mom froze them and we were able to enjoy them for a good while past the holidays.

I now need to write in cookie baking on my calendar because I definitely want to have these on hand during the holiday season.

I hope that you all will enjoy.

Ambrosia Salad

One cup mandarin orange slices
One cup shredded pineapple or pineapple chunks
One cup maraschino cherries
One cup miniature marshmallows
One cup shredded coconut
One cup sour cream

Mix all together and chill.

My mom used to also added unseeded white grapes halved in to her mix but I kept getting sour tasting grapes, so decided just to leave out of recipe. If you know that your grapes are sweet, you could add a cup of them to mixture also for more color in the salad.

This is really great stuff too. Yum, yum.

Both recipe's sound wonderful Ruby..will have to mark the ingredients and make both..maybe not this week but shortly..

I sat down and made myself a schedule..I'm on top of things but Suzanne, well, she takes on way too much and everyone is so demanding of her that her plans go by the wayside..I've just done 4 more santa's up to the beard point..with my 3 and her 4 other ones left (no wood for bases unless I cut up an already cut project..lol..I'll be done helping her..

With the girls coming to paint tomorrow thought I'd best get as much of the dress done so I can clear the tables for them...

If I stick to my time schedule as planned, I'll have time to put my feet up...just want to get these sewing things done..

Melanie my DIL called, she wants to come over and embroider name/date and with love on the quilts she made that will be christmas presents...so not sure which night I'll schedule for that...

Was going to start all the floral arrangements but I need about 12, wouldn't have time I don't think to bring all that greenery in and start today..a couple of nights and they'll get done...

Ruby most of those jobs I had for years..American Express, worked there for 5 yrs. and had to quite when I started to travel USA side a lot, with 2 young children, Roger was not impressed so left there...

Left General Electric because they closed down, worked over 20 years as Recreation Co-ordinator for the Township, busiest job I ever had..lol...but gave us a good living..

My youngest son Ruby turns 39 tomorrow, Greg turns 40 New Years Day and Roger will have been dead 18 years this New Years Day..guess that's why I was being a little sentimental and not quite myself re going south... odd but both my boys were born in 1969..I lost a girl in 1968 and another girl in 1970...so really would have been busy had they all lived...

Your children are fairly young Ruby? Your youngest is what 19-20?

Gita, you'll have to share your wreath..

Some of our highways are closed today..Mom and Jim left the cottage early only to fight a storm all the way to the city..

Would you believe when she called as promised to find my decision and I told her yes I was going she said "Oh, Jim (that's my stepfather) might get the time off and would love to come with us if he gets the 2 weeks" hello, I wouldn't have gone had I known he would drive her, but then, he doesn't like driving so guess I'm going regardless...
Best not stop, was doing hand sewing on the dress upstairs, put it down and could feel I wanted to get comfy so got up and started to do something either that or there would have gone a productive day!

Good Afternoon Everyone!!

Geesh, I have been super busy last couple of days!
Working on getting house ready for Christmas...
laundry, and i decided to take over the crafting corner as my own personal space!
Everyone has there rooms and I only have craft table...Sooo, I decided this corner is to be only mine.
Removed everones stuff, books movies games and now replacing my personal touch to that corner.
I am figuring it's about time, most of my craft items are crammed in boxes ect, Been reorganising it so
I can think half way straight.
Yesterday made another half apron and the little tiny one for soap, so that gift is complete/Thank you for the compliments on the first. ...Back to Victorian santas.
Still have 3 to make as gifts and mine...Plus i have got to start my stockings!! Planning to make 6 so that a weeks worth of work.
hahahah, I did say retired right? LOL.

Miss you all...

Betty, Wow the Santa suite turned out spectacular!!
Sounds like the plans will come together for Florida. I hope so.
Wow, all the cooking your doing is making me hungry. Sounds like a great dinner gathering is to be had.

Ruby, yum recipes sound delicious too.

Gita, wow, what a neat project...I too hope you share the wreath you make.
Thanks for sharing such a nice story to go along with it...

Enjoy the day everyone, got to get back to work here...lol, next load.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Judy got the vision of all of us working away, santa's elves...better not think elves before Suzanne wants an elf costume..lol

Been working hard, haven't been outside as yet..Greg said he and Kyle would be over but so far they haven't...was doing the bands and fell asleep..probably 10 minutes or so, would be it but washed my face, starting to move around and waking myself up..you know me, I'm great till about 5 or 6 unless I can pass my sleepy time...

Sure would like to finish the Mrs. - then I'd only have the apron to do..

Glad you took over your corner of the world, you deserve it and you so like crafting..you'll find all kinds of surprises as you open stored boxes...

No word from Gita yet? wanting to see the wreath..

I'm up to here..the bands are full of diamond glitter stones..so pretty..

Hey, Guys! Patience!!! I got home after it was dark........

We had a lovely time! I got to see 2 lady-friends that used to be active in out group and I had not seen them for a long time. People meet--marry-and then tend to drop out....
We each made one wreath, decorated it and then had soup and bread and--more wine, of course.

Will take a picture tomorrow and show you.......Nothing super fancy--but made from fresh boxwood cuttings.

This wreath is for my daughter--as I said.....to hang outside her apartment door. Just hope someone doesn't decide to walk off with it.

I have a skinny thingie I put on my front door, kind of a flat, yarm X-mas tree with red pom-poms for decoration. I like it--have been using it for years....Anything I put there has to fit between my storm door and the house door. A wreath would be pushing it......did it last year, though!
Even saved the bow--but it was too big to use today. Made a new one.....

Gita

Good evening everyone!! I have had a busy, busy weekend!
Got the tree up and lights on it, I'll probably decorate it tomorrow after work. Dave wants to have a Christmas party for his family, friends so I need to clean up the house Big Time!! I'll start on that next week. I haven't had any time to work on the Victorian Santa which sucks. I'm not too far away from finishing it, I don't think. So far I've been more coordinated than I thought I would be.

Dang I don't want to go to work tomorrow, but I go in late on Wednesday, I might just take the whole day off to get my car in the shop for an oil change, the stupid tire light keeps blinking and it's quite annoying. No one is at work this week so it might be difficult, but that light is driving me nuts and I already have a dentist appt scheduled at 10am, so I won't be getting to work until noon anyway.

Wow Betty, I love your stories. My granny (mom's mom, not the grandmother the story is about) lost 2 kids, she had my mom's half sister in 1936, one after her died at birth, then my mom had a twin brother who died at birth. They were born 3 months premature and mom weighed 2 pounds, he weighed 1/2 a pound and didn't make it, then she had to have a hysterectomy. The drs. said her uterus lining was too thin and she couldn't carry to term. My mom's half sister was born a month early. Your kids are just a little older than me, a little younger than Dave lol! Good ages. My mom just turned 60 last August so she's biting that bullet, but I think she's starting to get over it now lol! And yes, it looks like you can cook to me, and those pies look really good!

Back to the cat stories, I got my cat when she was about 3 weeks old. I bottle fed her until she weened herself (I guess that's the way it happened, I don't remember lol!) I had a boyfriend at the time living with me and he had his 5 year old cat with us, I just remember Tiga coming home, she showed up at his work so he brought her home. She was 3 weeks old and starving, couldn't even walk. I made a bed for her and when my boyfriends cat would come in she would just lay there and growl, then they would growl at each other. About a week later Tiga could get up and walk and boy was she a hyper little fuzzy turd. Boyfriends cat wouldn't play, Tiga said "you're going to play with me whether you like it or not!" and they ended up being "best cats." When I gave him the boot he left his cat and she disappeared about 5 years later. I don't know if she got ran over, if he came and got her, or what. She was old, probably about 14 years, but she ran and played constantly. Then Tiga took over being Queen of the Castle. She's part Tabby, part Maine Coon Cat. Incredibly intelligent cat. She'll be 13 in February. That's going to be one very sad day when she dies. She is my daughter (the bad thing about having animal children and not human children.)

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, it's extremely cold here this morning, a few of the older windows that need replacing are sooo frosted up, could say new design for my bedroom as there are pretty patterns within the ice...

Am up early even though I need not be at work until 9am but though it would give me time to clean my mess downstairs...worked until 9:30..what's left of the Ms. is her color/belt and now on to the apron..but first will come what I have to do for myself for Sunday, next week I can focus on finishing her..more work than I had thought..now as stylish as I'd have like her dress to be but then she Mrs. Claus not a sexy model lady..it will be ok when all is put together..

Gita, is nice meeting with old friends isn't it..I have the same problem with my front door..the wreath now is on the outer door because of space..porch covered with roof so don't get a lot of snow/rain on it...your daughter will absolutely love hanging it..you don't really think people steal wreaths do you???

I worried this summer about the Christmas music unit I had installed on the side of front deck, thought it wouldn't stay there long, but it was safe...

Looking forward to your wreath photo..can always use ideas..

I didn't even take the greenery out of the trunk..it's full to the brim..maybe tonight..the girls will have painted, they'll not likely come next week so I can make all the mess I want without having to clean it up immediately..besides I need flowers...

Crissy, they say when cats are going to pass on they often go look for a place to die..maybe that's what happened...

Yes, our animals do become our kids don't they..Mike and Darlene have never had children and their cats ARE their children...really makes it difficult when something happens to them...theirs are indoor kitties only...not like mine..

Missy was left to fend for herself shortly after birth as well..as Jeff's boys brought me a kittie (Riley) shortly after I moved in here the last thing with having Sailor as well was another kittie..but here this poor little affectionate kittie who I just knew wouldn't live much longer if she didn't have care, would come to my door, sit on the back entrance roof peering into window doing her 'meow/meow'..painting girls said I just had to keep her and love her because she had picked me as her mistress...she's turned out to be such a loving kitty but she and Riley go their separate ways...

Best get at it instead of playing on this computer..I'm taking my own car in as I've mega things to do at lunch (bring back angel) and after work..although very cold the roads look clear...

I'll have to call Suzanne with my cel..wondered why it was so quiet yesterday, found out when I went to the store next door and use my debit...NO telephones all day..still are not on..apparently due to heavy snow load on trees and lines down..

This time I really am off..

Victoria Harbour, ON

Stacey, you are normally up at this time of morning..

All set for work and still hours before I'm to leave..but I've things to keep me busy!!!

Crozet, VA

Busy, busy Betty. Wow woman, you accomplish so much in a day that it is mind blowing to me. I had a restful weekend, but have something going on each day this week. Just regular stuff and then add on top of that all the Christmas things that need to be done, and I won't have many moments to spare either.

Today I need to do major grocery shopping at Walmart. I have had a list going on for over a week again. Also want to go to another grocery store that I found a few weeks ago that has really good prices on a lot of the things that we use. i was supposed to have a massage later this morning but am going to call and reschedule for later in the week if possible.

Need to get up and start my day....chores, chores and more chores. I hope that today will be a good one for each and every one.

Ruby

Victoria Harbour, ON

Ruby, that time of year isn't it??? Now you say groceries at Walmart..we opened on Dec.1st a Super Walmart, meat dept. won't open until mid January ..wondered how their prices compare to regular grocery stores? Should you be cancelling your masage? How come we all seem to put things aside when it comes to our well being?

Ruby, Sailor keeps wanting to go to the post office..told her about all the goodies you are sending..she's excited....

Jo, meant to say hello yesterday, welcome you to the group, do hope you keep dropping in? Well Jo, working my way south, must get the map out and see where you are again visually..

Have my schedule done as well, a lot to accomplish now that I am leaving the 19th..imagine, 5 more sleeps and Santa comes for me and the kids..

I'm such a worry wort, now I'm wondering for Jeff who travels from the city if the weather is terrible will he make it, give my head a shake..

This morning seems endless..up just after 4am and with not having to leave until at least 8am it gave me a full morning..in fact, almost finished the apron..top done, bottom done now to figure how the bands work..am sure I'll figure it out..

My work day today will be working with the girls to put all the files back in order etc. if they finished painting over the weekend...

I had an entire computer system to give someone, nobody wants it so in the garbage it will go..thought maybe the couple next door but they already have one..
Greg and Mel said they have too many already (Kyle is getting a laptop for Christmas) .. thought somebody could use it..but no...

It's -14 this morning..coldest morning of the year so far, I've my car running...

Must tell you a funny thing..

Yesterday I was upstairs/downstairs hundreds of times, at the computer, at the sewing machine...well downstairs I come, mind not where it should be...sitting at the desk with computer and I'm searching with my foot for the foot pedal..imagine...couldn't even get what I was doing right...

Best make a coffee...put the few things that need to go to the office in the car and just take my time, enjoy the day...

Talk when I get to the office

I have today off Betty-not looking forward to going back to work tomorrow-apparantly on Wed we are to have a meeting about getting our hrs cut drastically -working 1/2 days for the last 2 weeks of the month and staying that way after the first of the year, which I will have something to say-you can't expect me to work 5-6 days a week for 30hrs-that is cutting me by over $100 a week and still wanting me to expend $60-$80 in gas a week-not gonna happen-it seems that things were bad B$ and are getting worse with her being back:( We are NOT happy and I really hope something comes through soon...

Good grief, I'm sorry to hear that Fairy. It's almost not worth the drive. Isn't it weird that you can almost save money by not driving to work, which means no income, but it's cheaper than to spend the whole paycheck on gas.

Betty, you are so funny! I go into the wrong room all the time, if I need something from the kitchen I'll go into the bathroom. If I need something from the bathroom I'll go into the bedroom, and so on. It's crazy.

Betty, I know here Walmart is chaper but the meat, especially the beef, sucks. If you want good cuts of meat don't go to walmart. I've gone to the point of going Wal Mart shopping for a lot of things, then the regular grocery store for the meats.

Judy, that's the building that you and Steve took Liz and I right..we were on the 60th something floor..Oprah Winfrey???? she lives in the penthouse ...oh so much fun when I can actually visualize where you will be working...well there is a fine part time job for you Judy..now how is Steve's co-worker doing?

OMG left home at 8:15...took my time, actually almost dead stopped, just enjoying looking at the snow topped trees, couldn't smell the roses but sure did enjoy the ride..got here at 8:55am..few minutes early....

Fostoria, OH(Zone 5a)

HI, Betty and everyone. Got home yesterday afternoon from cookie baking with the two DIL's and we had a great time, as usual. Got all eleven kinds of cookies and four colors of gumdrops done by Saturday night!
Unfortunately I came done with a doszy of a cold! Started Friday night with a sore throat and then the stuffted up head and now I am just plain miserable. Sat yestserday and watched old movies and drank tea with lemon. Today is not much better and I have so much to do. Must finish my stocking for the swap (should have gone out on Friday), complete the Fairy Garden package, finish putting the decorations away... and all I feel like doing is going back to bed and being dead until this thing goes away.
Going to miss two parties this week as I not only don't feel well enough but I don't want to chance giving this to anyone else. We'll see about this weekend.
What is the fun in being sick if you don't feel well enough to enjoy the time off?
Thanks you Ruby for the applesauce cake recipe. I intend to try it soon.
