rotflol!!! that was too funny Laurie. I love it! and I agree with you whole heartedly! You're too part of the PNWest...at heart! that's what matters. And you're one of the few who is online during the same crazy hours I am (not crazy for you though)

Sofer, awesome portrait..... It makes me think that I need to update the presciption on my contacts.

Welcome Sue! I'm a bit late at the welcoming. But, like you I mostly lurk here and actually talk about the weather on that thread.

Tilly told me that I needed to come over here with my pictures since we don't really have something like a 'garden photos' thread for the PNW going on right now.

I took these today while I was taking a walk around the neighborhood on my lunchbreak. I was sooooo excited to be out in the sun!

So blame Tilly if you get bored with them :-p Just kidding.

Redchic, I enjoyed the photos enormously, no sense of boredom yet. And I'm so glad someone else saw Sofer's portrait as out of focus - I was beginning to wonder whether it was just me..

Kalispell, MT(Zone 4b)

For all of you who need focus in your lives this is it. We who are creative and present feelings, I liked the out of focus to show the surreal moment. LOL

Thank you thank you - what a great photo, and that baby!!!!! Wow.

OOOH, there are adults in that photo?? Sorry, I was distracted by the golden glow around that little pink baby!!
Redchic, what's the red flower? That's blooming now??

Laurie, nice rant! We haven't had a good Laurie rant for awhile now.

Eugene, OR

sofer...even the blurry ones prompt memories. I tend to look past that and look at the moment. Your GD was such a patient baby that day, looked like she was having fun.

More ranting Laurie..I love it.

Sofer, I love the new picture! I liked the other one too, but I did think that my contacts were screwed up for a moment. The baby is toooo cute!

Pixy... the red flower is Camellia Sasanqua Yuletide. It tried to start blooming a few weeks ago, but the blooms were history under a foot of snow. I was soooo hoping that not all of them had opened and would be left to open later, as it did. they've bloomed just fine with a few inches of snow before. Anyhow, as you can guess with the name Yultide, this is the time of year that it normally blooms.

Laurie.... Nope, you're not alone over there!! glad that you weren't bored. It's grey again today. So i doubt that I'll have any new ones, maybe.

OK you get to see one more of my Charlize. Thank you for all of the goo goos

Love the Baby, but why is she always looking to the right, whats going on your not showing us Mmmmmmmmm. LOL

That picture brings back many fond memories~ I can just feel that sweet wet baby skin and squishy little legs and arms. Yummy washcloth!

Eugene, OR

And the sounds!! Splashes, giggles and sucking on that washcloth. Thanks Pix, you nudged a corner of my mind.

Thinking the same about bath time. Loved it. My baby just turned 48.

Has anyone grown Bird of Paradise? We have two wintering in the pool building where I live. The fiberglass (or whatever it is) walls give them plenty of light and enough warmth to survive. The owners go south for the winter, we actually see more of their blooming time than they do, when we go for exercise.

I've always liked the blooms and there's room for a couple more by the pool. LOL I started looking and there are so many different types. Just wondered if anyone has a favorite.

Laurie, I posted an answer to your question about the basted rawhide chews but somehow it disappeared, anyway, yes they baste them in beef, smoked and chicken flavors. They're a little messy, but the dogs LOVE them. I gave them a frozen bone last night after their dinner and they didn't come in until about 7, normally they come in just as it's getting dark or shortly thereafter. Brute always comes to the back door and barks (I'd rather he did that instead of scratching the door) to come in.
Steve, love the pics! That little Charlize is going to be real doll when she grows up! What a cutie pie now!

Yep, I thought the same thing - sweet-smelling baby skin. Oh, now I'll have to go around the corner to get my baby fix.

Bend, OR(Zone 5a)

Jan, get a fix for me too! My baby will be 34 in May, man do I feel old all of a sudden! LOL!

I love a good rant - and sofer is SUCH a good target. gardener, I'm getting squeezier and squeezier about these basted chews - I think pigs ears are as far as I'm going - and the dogs like frozen bones? Owww, makes my teeth hurt to think about it, especially with the cold weather we are having right now. My poor little dog - I gave him a haircut over christmas, and the temps dropped to minus 12C - he just sits, shivering, and glowering at me "you took my jacket off, what could you have been thinking?". I was thinking you look cuter with your whiskers and coat groomed for the christmas photos!

Nice pictures of baby in bath, sofer, nicely focussed too.

Bend, OR(Zone 5a)

Laurie, they love the bones frozen. They last longer that way! LOL! I know how you feel about the teeth aspect of it though, I don't know how they can chew on a bone anyway. Your poor little guy, now he needs for you to knit him a new coat! LOL!
The rawhide chews last quite awhile. I don't give them as often as I used to though.
Susan

Those bones turn my younger aussie into a beast. I got some of the really hard pressed kind and gave one to each dog as a treat. Now our Fran is getting older, 13 just last week :( and she doesn't enjoy a good bone as much as she used to, but Skip is used to her trying to take his away from him. As the second dog, he is not allowed to have free access to treats and toys. Fran is top dog and he knows it and resents it horribly. Now that Fran is older, he is pressing his case more and more and she mostly does not even give a rip about it, but he, apparently does not know that. So he gets his bone and just holds it between paws, watching her. She toys with him by laying close by and watching him. But she makes no moves to get her own bone. He has actually growled at her recently. No movements by either of them, and an immediate correction by whomever is closeby, but there was an actual growl. Fran just looked at me like 'yeah,, he thinks he is such a hotshot.'. She is still pretty secure in her top dog status. It is actually quite funny to see him take the bone and wander the house looking for a place to lay down and chew uninterrupted. Generally he will go to a corner and face the corner with it so she can't get to him. They crack me up!

Bend, OR(Zone 5a)

pixy, That's funny. I love how dogs have their own personality. Even though Moose and Brute are litter mates, they're almost like day and night. Moose is mellow and Brute is wound up most of the time. When I give them bones, they go to the opposite end of the yard and chew on them. They don't seem to bother each other unless one of them is almost done then it's time to play.

Fabulous snow people! And that baby is adorable.

Thanks for the welcome in everyone! We are in Renton, close to Issaquah. In a development, wanting to be out of it, as I would just like more room for vegetable gardening. I'm tinkering with taking out more grass and garden borders to satisfy my craving for growing food this year. We can't move anytime soon, so I am going to ask our board to approve a small chicken coop, but not sure how it will go over. LOL. It's legal in our city, but with our HOA, we are not sure.

I have some pretty good plans for this year, I just can't wait to get started! I have to order new panels for my little harbor freight greenhouse, so I can get the seeds started.

C'mon spring!

Sue
