Hey all 2

Whidbey Island, WA(Zone 7a)

Here's another good one my neighbor sent me this morning:

http://www.wrh.noaa.gov/sew/Dec20-21WinterStorm/player.html

Eugene, OR

Good information. Batten down the hatches you guys.

North Lakewood, WA(Zone 8b)

Oh Kathy I'm so sorry you had a ditch experience. I hope all is well now. I'm sure a couple of glasses of wine will help.
Hope the wind stays away, we don't need trees on anyones houses.
Sofer I hope your wife makes it safely. Sending good thoughts.

Hoping everyone will be safe in this new round of 'weather'.

I believe the dog was part retriever. He was named Bozo.

Katie - glad you weren't hurt.

Sofer, I also am anxious to hear if your wife made it safely.

The grandkids had all week off from school west of Portland. DDIL was in charge of the Christmas program - which is a pretty big thing. I think it has been postponed til sometime in January. After 3 weeks off, they'll have to learn all their parts again. LOL K - 8th grade.

Eugene, OR

What a disappointment for them, hope they get to do it later.

Poulsbo, WA(Zone 8a)

Oh, Kathy, glad you are OK. I had a few close calls, not me tho the guy in front of me, I thought I would hit him but he slid off the side. I didn't panic and hit the brakes so I was able to avoid him. He was Ok, just a little ruffled.
Steve, I so pray she will be OKay, started snowing in Lynnwood around 4pm and still coming down, I just called the store to see if they where alright. I got home at 7:20pm was not a nice drive home. In the time I have been home my car has 1" on it, and its coming down hard now. I may not get to work in AM . No wind as yet.
Please let us know she is safe.

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

Steve, hope Karen decided to postpone. It's blowing pretty crazy here now and we're nowhere near the center of it. Let us know one way or the other.

It's much less icy on the hill tonight. The snow is very dry. I walked up to the neighbors and didn't have any trouble standing up. Last night I fell on the way down. I think I just picked the wrong time to try to drive it. I went straight off the side as though someone pushed the whole car from the right. I don't think I could recreate that if I tried. And I don't want to. LOL And I missed the trees!!

Mary, glad you didn't get into an accident. It's pretty bad out there. The pictures of Enumclaw on the news tonight were phenomenal. It looked like the midwest.

Kalispell, MT(Zone 4b)

sorry I did not have internet access last night. karen got in to bellevue 3 hours late. all is well and now all I have to worry about is stand by all day here in juneau. my scheduled flight is not till tonight.
I had a delightfull christmas party with the Phillipino community last night. they were wonderful and the food was spectacular! they line danced and had a santa visit the children.

Whidbey Island, WA(Zone 7a)

My youngest daughter lives in Maple Valley, almost to Enumclaw. I haven't heard from her yet today - don't know if they lost power. My understanding is that North Bend was the area that got hit the worst.

It's definitely gorgeous, but wish my family could get over here to visit! My CA daughter got in Friday night, but her daughter is stuck in Spokane. And I'm stuck here, but have to admit I don't want to move off the island so I can just deal with it!!!

Steve, hope your flight gets out okay (and that SeaTac is open for landings!). I'm so glad Karen made it okay.

Eugene, OR

Sofer....thank you for the news, good to hear, good luck on the rest of your trip.

Kalispell, MT(Zone 4b)

is seatac closed. they are flying out of here to go there. or are they landing in spokane?

Moscow, ID(Zone 5a)

Steve - the recommendation is to call your airline. I heard earlier on the news that the airport is not able to handle the call volume, nor keep current on their website. All that may have changed in the last hour or so.

Kalispell, MT(Zone 4b)

Thanks Kayte. I guess Ill just have to wait an.d see tonight. Oh well ill just have to go down on the pier for a beer.

Eugene, OR

Know that sounds like a plan!

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

SEATAC is not closed yet. But I just heard that Alaska canceled all flights. I don't know if that means in or outbound flights or for how long, though. Still snowing here, though the wind is down.

Steve, I'm so glad that Karen made it through the pass only 3 hours behind. From what I hear, based on the relative barometric pressures east and west of the Cascades, they were sure there would be 90 mph winds. Meteorologists are now trying to figure out why the winds were "only" 70 mph.

Carole, I saw coverage of the winds in Enumclaw last night and it looked like the midwest, then wind was blowing so hard. Hoping that your daughter has power soon.

Sally, are you guys getting any more snow? I think Corvallis was having snow earlier today.

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

Okay. I just heard it again: Alaska and Horizon have cancelled ALL flights in and out of SEATAC.

Kalispell, MT(Zone 4b)

Yeah Christmas in Alaska for me. Oh well. Now for the 12 hour waiting on the phone to get reservations. Bummer.

Whidbey Island, WA(Zone 7a)

My daughter in Maple Valley never lost power - thankfully! My granddaughter, her husband, and their little guy are stuck in Spokane (due to Horizon canceling flights in/out of SeaTac). This is the strangest Christmas season ever - we were all looking forward to a lot of time together, but we're spread all over and can't get to one another (other than the daughter from CA being able to get to my brother's house from their motel). Lonely, but I keep trying to remember that everyone is safe and healthy. Really can't ask for much more than that, right???!!!

Vashon, WA(Zone 8b)

Maybe I'm overly optimistic, really holding onto a shred of hope that it will thaw out enough by the 24th for everyone to get where they are trying to go for Christmas and the second part of Hanukkah week.

I still need to get my mom from Lacey to my house for the holidays. She has arranged for a friend to take her to her doctor appointment tomorrow afternoon, but I wonder if that is even possible. I told her we are not having Christmas until she is here, no matter what day it is, but the harder thing is that the second anniversary of my dad's death is the 23rd, so it is a really tough time of year for her.

We had a scare with my dog this past week and I thought I was going to lose him. He threw up kind of a yellow froth 3 times, and then wouldn't eat for 2 days. I was putting water right in front of his nose, so he was taking that. He is going on 16 years old and is a big dog, and the vet has been telling me for 3 years he doesn't have a lot of time left. But, happy news, he has been eating canned food and a little gaining strength back. His pee is still somewhat dark, but I haven't been able to get him out to the vet.

Poulsbo, WA(Zone 8a)

Steve so sorry about your plane, But gald DW is safe.
Holly, it is nasty out at least here, dug the car out once and its buried again.
All be safe and warm.

Tyler is having to much fun, loves the snow. LOL

Here's my Doggly last night on self appointed lookout duty on the front porch. Had to coax him in when I was worried he would get too wet and cold out there.

katie.....feel guilty to even say it, but our snow is all gone. It's been raining since yesterday, but it's been between 35- 38 deg so no snow. You have all got so much!

tilly...how on earth do they expect you to get to work if you can't even unbury your car?

Wish it would all clear up in time for the holidays, but at least everyone is warm and dry.

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

Holly - That yellow bile stuff usually means that their stomachs are empty. Whippets do that as puppies in the mornings, and Nick did that quite a bit. I'm glad that Doggly is enjoying the snow - he is made for it. Fingers crossed that you can keep fluids and food getting into him.

Steve and Carole - I'm so sorry that your people aren't with you yet. But I'm like Holly, holding out hope that you can get where you need to be before Christmas. Alaska only canceled, apparently, because they ran out of de-icer. There is news about lots of people stranded, but everybody is still working to keep things moving.

Sally - Don't you feel guilty. It's good for all of us to know that eventually this will melt and we'll be able to get around.

I'm hearing now that the gas trucks can't make it to the stations, so there isn't gas for sale, either.

This is like a Twilight Zone episode . . .

Whidbey Island, WA(Zone 7a)

My California daughter and her DH are, at this moment, driving to Spokane to pick up their daughter & her DH and little guy. So I can now worry about ALL of them. LOL I'm actually not too worried as my DD is a fabulous driver and apparently the pass and I-90 are pretty good. I talked to her about an hour ago and she was in Ellensburg (where it was 4 degrees and her little Papillon flatly refused to pee!).

Eugene, OR

ROFL...poor little thing, probably all froze up! Keeping good thoughts their drive is uneventful.

Poulsbo, WA(Zone 8a)

Poor thing.
Hope all your families, get where they are going safe.
sending best wishies.

Steve, how are you faring?

8 tries to get to the top of the drive, Then to wake up with the same problem. Not going to work today.

Tyler is saying ' what are you doing' ???????

Tilly glad you stayed home. Boss can't be too upset as you did give it your best effort. Probably not safe to go out and about anyway.

Marysville, WA(Zone 7a)

What have I done wrong that causes so much retribution in the form of this miserable snow ? The dogs aren't even very happy with it, and since the poop is all covered with snow it will be a long and stinky ordeal when it thaws. "poopsickles" might be a little easier to clean up after the thaw, but then again, maybe not. Hope everyone is safe and warm. Happy Holidays.

LMAO to funny Robert.
Careful where you walk.

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Just caught up with 2 days worth of reports here. Praying everyone stays safe and you all get to be with your families as soon as possible.

The Christmas program will be in January sometime. The kids had worked too hard not to have it at some point. I talked to DDIL yesterday outside Portland and she and DS walked to the store. She said it reminded them of when they lived in Japan for 2 years. But at least they have central heat here, and not just a little table with a blanket hanging down over the side with a heating unit attached to the underside of the table. The streets in town had little water emitters that stuck up from the middle of the street that had hot water streaming from them to keep the streets snow-free. ( kinda like a sprinkler system) A funny sight. At one point, though, there was 9 ft. of snow on the ground. but the streets were clear. LOL

Kalispell, MT(Zone 4b)

I am stuck in Juneau drinking beer for a whole additional day. I will just have to suffer. poor me!

Poulsbo, WA(Zone 8a)

Just talk to Carla, She is fine has 16" her DH has not been able to get to work since Friday. The operation did not help her any and not faring well in this weather. this is for those that know Cocoajuno.

Hey Jan, that sounds neat, but what happens if the power go's out and it freezes. being funny LOL

Poulsbo, WA(Zone 8a)

Ohhhh Steve, poor you. Been watching the news on the airtravel, not good. Have they given you a possible time out? So Sad for you, I have been snowbound for 2 days can't get the car out of the drive got it once but snowed in again. I so miss my Subaru, wish I it didn't blow the engine last summer.
Take care and be safe.

Moscow, ID(Zone 5a)

Robert - re: poopsickles.
The heat they put off cause quite a few to sink - makes them harder to find.
If you've got more than one dog, my advice is to let them out one at a time, and take the plastic bag with you. Steam rising from the snow is a telltale sign. Trying to keep track of where my 2 girls go can be a challenge, although Ruby made it quite easy yesterday by going 5' from the backdoor.
Do be careful where you tread, as Tils already mentioned: it's not easy to get frozen poop out of the soles of winter boots!

Steve: Work the room - you'll have a great time, and spread your general good cheer.

LOL Katye, you said it better than me.

Just all be safe. love you all.

My road, north bound.

Re: poopsicles, I would have thought that the larger the dog, the easier to find the stuff to pick up... not so. 180# of dog makes it sink faster and farther, little dogs leave their stuff on top of the snow so it's easier to find later. With 4 dogs, 2 very big and 2 very small it's not too much fun! I vote for rain, that I can manage much better.Thought I'd never say that!

Sofer, hope the beer is cold while you're waiting to get a ride out. With lots of folks in the same predicament you should have some great stories to share.

Roads were fair today and drivers mainly frustrated as I finished most of my shopping and errands, hope everyone stays safe & warm.

Eugene, OR

We're clear here and went into town to stock up. The roads are worse than ever!!! Every shopper in the county was trying to get to the malls! Glad we didn't need to go there.

Sofer....I bet you're the hit of the party.

And I'm glad I have cats^_^

Kalispell, MT(Zone 4b)

Had fun and lots of people to talk with. Went to the Alaska Amber brewery and had 4 glasses of their beers. Now all I have to do is sleep in tomorrow and kill another day going to my favorite book store to get stuff to read. It is all used books and nothing is more than 10 bucks. It will take me several hours to find all of the books I have missed out on not having time to spend there.
I left a letter to the vet working here at the clinic about an arrival of reindeer that is coming in to have a work up for a nose that has lost its glow. I have left a "stool" sample of candy cane with tootsie rolls on each end to have her check for parasites. I gave her a possibility of depression due to the other reindeer making fun of him and not letting him play in any of their games. I told her that the owner is quite agitated because of some business activity in a couple of days that is consuming much of his time. I felt that it was imperative that she restore the nose to its glow or the said owner will be lacking his renound "Jolly" and the other reindeer won't be able to shout with glee with this individual unable to guide this business event.

Moscow, ID(Zone 5a)

Steve - I think you covered everything!
