this reminds me so much of garden web.....i never get responses....(Ckrdpast goes back to lurking)
sorry to dissappoint yall but....
Huh? Ckrdpast, first off, welcome to DG! I don't think we've had a chance to "meet" yet :) All your threads have had replies, so why do you say you haven't gotten any responses?
go-vols you just keep cheering for that team and never mind me!!!
ckrdpast
What go_vols posted is correct, all your posts gernerated responses. Not all of your plants were IDed but some were. If I recall correctly, there were some great comments regarding to your new digi camera, and your pictures.
GO VOLS GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! P.S. I have not ever been a member at gw.

ohhhhhhhh sheesh this is turning into a football thing....
I didn't start the football thing, honest! In fact, most of the time I forget my nickname is a football cheer until somebody reminds me. Well, at least ya'll know what a vol is - gardeners usually think I misspelled "voles" ;0)
whatever....still feels like the gardenweb to me
Nah, GW doesn't have all of us, LOL!
gardenweb has a**holes galore
none here though to my knowledge! the folks at DG are the nicest bunch of people you could find on the web!
stay awhile ckrdpast, you might find something you like!
ckrdpast, I am sorry that you feel dissatisfied with the members responses here. If you give it a chance you may find a really great group of people. If not, I wish you well in your search for a compatible group that will feel more fitting to your needs.

I think GW is trading, all trading and very little besides trading. DG is friends, talking, joking, learning, sharing and doing some trading. After three and a half years of massive trading, I think I got a little burned out. I am slow to answer Email because I am really busy, but eventually get back to everyone. But I enjoy reading, looking at pictures, hearing what other people think, etc. If I have to have seeds and no one wants to trade, I can buy them or go without. Honestly, I enjoy the friendship more than the trades.
What are you looking for?
Michele
CP,
No one in the garden would deliberately ignore you. Please tell us the response you were hoping to get on your threads, and which threads in particular are you upset about. We have no one here with the name @$$&*#^ here, and we don't call names either, even if we are upset.
I personally, as are others, caught up in a whirlwind of outside activities with friends and family. If we have caused you any discontent, then we apologize, and would hope that you accept our apology, and find all the good things that the garden has to offer.
"eyes"
A side point with the issue...if someone has a post and is asking for a reply, ie...Identification, Instructions, Suggestions, Where do I...?, etc...if I can't really make a good suggestion or if I don't have a clue, I usually don't post a reply if I really don't have anything knowledable to post. I love reading the original posts and I often try to figure out what is being asked but I personally don't know enough about some things to be accurate enough.
Ckrd...Welcome here! I'd encourage you to continue to post, since many people are most likely interested, as well, in what you are seeking. There is a friendly group of people here and it's the entire DG garden family, so to speak. This collective bunch may not always have a lot to say but our hearts are in the right place :)
Trish
This would have to be one of the most ellaborate April Fools' Joke I've ever seen, except it's not April 1st. It's too bad, really, because I love a well-executed joke.
I don't know what's going on here, but it looks like Checkered Past doesn't want to be our friend anymore. That's a far cry from what he said on the other thread (how did you choose your name - http://davesgarden.com/showthread/89631.html ).
You wrote: "this is DG...my favorite addiction!!! Even though i've never met any of you IRL...i consider ya'll friends"
And then, 7 short hours, you start this thread? What gives? Are you looking for attention?
Dave
I rather suspect the OP is just, as someone suggested, making a splash.
But the OP is a segue to one of my long held notions that we need a forum on how to use forums. There is a situation on many forums such as DG and TthatHotherSite in that persons post non-responsive follow-ups e.g. some posts "What do I do with green [something]?" and the non-responsive follow up is "I have the same question." and this starts the OP flowing toward the bottom and off the page.
A follow-up may or may not be responsive! This may be, I rather doubt it but, this may be what the OP was saying.
We need a forum on how to use forums.
Dave! Thankyou! Yes! I was choosing to not participate in this thread , because I suspected the same thing.
Members here are so nice and helpful and responsive. When time allows them. I have learned so much this last year.
First: just because you may not get many responses does not mean you are being ignored. We all cant be everywhere here all the time.
Second: If someone says something that does not agree with you , do not take offence, unless it is repeated. Then I choose to ignore it.
This is repeated, here in this thread. It is obvious no matter what is said. It seems not to help.
Well, since Ckrdpast chose to place the derogatory comment about GW's members right after my post, I've been hesitant to post anything else - I figured I was perhaps the one that remark was directed at, although that's not how most folks address me :)
Regardless, the thread of the title is correct - I (for one) AM disappointed, but not the way I suspect Ckrdpast was meaning. Rather, I'm disappointed that someone would appear to want to come in here spoiling for a fight. This is a gardening website, remember? And a very friendly one, at that.
One thing is very clear: DG isn't GardenWeb. Here you make your own reputation, and you (generally) won't find yourself censored before you can make a you-know-what of yourself, if you choose to do so.
Ckrdpast, I hope you find whatever it is you're looking for - be it here or elsewhere. Happy gardening!!!!
I visit often but rarely post because I don't have the knowledge that most of the others on DG have, so my input would not amount to much. I do think that there are a great bunch of people here and nobody means anyone any harm. For me this is a place to learn, learn, learn.
Lucy!! Your input as a person counts for tons!!! For some of us, our talent is in asking questions, so all these smart people can use their talent, which is teaching:) Now where would they be without us? LOL!!
To paraphrase the great Abe Lincoln:'You can please all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time but you can't please all the people all the time'.
ps ckrdpast ain't fooling us...this is the best garden site on the web!
Well like others above I was trying to keep my dog out of this dogfight and hoping it would slide off the page . I can see that's not going to happen. Ckrdpast I don't get it on the link Dave mentioned above you where just fine and I even responded to how your got your name you had me in suspense the whole time with your post and as far as I can see every post you have made has been responded to!!! First off this is not GW and if you haven't found that out since you signed up in June then maybe you aren't happy here, DG is not all about trading if thats what you problem is, its about sharing and learning and caring about each other. You know maybe your like me I do allot of lurking and reading the post and learning from them and for along time wouldn't post. Then I figured out heck how are they going to get to know me if I don't post. But on this instance I guess I am like an ole mother bear protecting her young. If you have a problem with somebody or something on DG then spit it out don't badmouth the whole site. This is my home and my friends and I take up for whats mine!
Ckrdpast,
Stick around awhile and maybe you will get use to it. I am not entirely comfortable here yet myself. I think part may be that it takes awhile to get the hang of some of the diff. ways things are done here. I am not very articulate and it is also hard to type long post. Please stay with me so we can get use to it together.
Well...Ckrdpast....You certainly have received alot of response to this thread..now haven't you.
Whooooooooo Hoooooooooooo , man Mystic, I have never seen you mad! I am glad your on my side! LOL Checkered Past You MUST be kidding. I am still somehow expecting you to come out and say "Just Kidding" Really!!
So many nice people to be poo pooing!!!
We are just proud to be members here.
Come on!!
Honee Bee, your just great,by the way , Gave me that wonderful Peach Butter Recipe, it was absolutely delicious.
OK, I have to put my 2 cents in. All I know is this...I've learned more about gardening at DG than in all the books, catalogs, etc. BUT, it's not all about flowers and plants. DG members are my best cyber-friends ever. I bawled like a baby when Dave posted that a member had died and I didn't even know them as I am so new. Hubby knows all of you as well as I do and he won't even touch a computer. I talk about these people like I've known them for years. So and so needs prayers, so and so had a baby or grand-baby, or birthday, or hey, so and so lives near us, etc. People here are SO kind, helpful, caring, and wonderful. This is the best site ever, just wish I could remember how I found it. I'm not even familiar with the other one. And yeah, we ARE one big HAPPY family.........vic
Let me just post a situation I recently had and let you be the judge: in the beginning of August I found out that my ex had been jailed and as I was depending on the support he had been giving me for the money for my swaps(amongst other things of course), I posted simply to let everyone know what had happened and that I would get my swaps out as soon as I could figure out how. I posted this on both this exchange as well as the garden web. I was inundated with emails as well as stamps and financial aid from the folks at GW; one woman who is a fellow homeschooler even sent me a box in the mail full of school supplies for my girls! Now there are at least two or more posts with others in need and the responce is overwhelming!
I am not taking sides just stating a fact- playing devil's advocate I suppose!
Have a nice day!
Woweeeeeeee!!! All these posts are the reason that I am proud to be a member of DG.If you speak bad about DG you are speaking bad about this whole wonderful family and just see how everyone sticks together with that maternal protective instinct.Just like Mystic stated I think everyone here are ole Poppa and Mama bears protecting this site that is loved so much by them.

Snowhermit! Hey now, do I look like an ol' mother bear!!? Naww...but I'm a poppa bear! :>) Lucy, you don't need knowledge to post here...just questions or observations are extremely helpful to us all. Trust me on this one! And vic (neighbor!) your post just cemented my relationship with this site even more than it was already...you're absolutely correct! From my hillbilly perspective I must say this. This post started out with a bit of negativity. However, that beginning has turned into something positive. I remember my first wife (may she rest in peace), and I used to celebrate some of the "dis-harmony" in our life. Seemed to us that dis-harmony in the minds of mature adults led to harmony. And that is what has happened in this thread. Have you noticed how much harmony is here now? People not only coming together but speaking out about coming together. Like one of us said above, its about sharing and learning and caring about each other. Sounds like a great deal to me!
Hanging head with embarrased look on face.
Hey Horseshoe, I fixed it. Hehehe. Good to have a big ole poppa bear on board.
Amen Horseshoe, your so right the calm after the storm. When I first read the post this morning I thought Gessh, I can't believe anyone could get so angry over anything so childish. I didn't even respond then, just seemed like ckrdpast wanted attention and it didn't matter if it came from negative attitude. Seems like we have a very angry cub in the garden!
I'm new to DG and I'm so happy that our Dear Nana sent me here! This site with the Best WebMaster "DAVE" as our leader(head of the family) is truly the Greatest family of gardeners online!
Blessing's All,
T-lily ;o
Suspect we,ve heard the last of that varmint, if not try starting your own site and you can respond to yourself all day long, Dave,s is a great place and we all try to treat each and everyone, with a little respect, it has taken me some time to see this myself ,hope you can see this to and adjust as you to will love it here as well :] ask for a recipe I will respond.
I agree...DG is a WONDERFULL place(my opinion)! I always felt intimidated at the other site (but like i say that`s me).I was very sick all summer long & not surfing on DG at all(so more or less I haven`t been at DG since april).Yes when I got back on I was hesitant but that left as soon as I started asking questions & forming my opinion(u can do that here...that freedom is a WONDERFULL thing we take for granted). There r some very caring ,giving people on this sight (so If your just"lurking" spend that time wisely & READ) Just my 2 cents worth!
Jen
I'll stick my neck out too..this is a great site, with many wonderful folks that I call freinds. I am sorry you have not found what you are searching for here at DG, but I, also, do wish you luck in your search. But I can 'gar-RON-tee'...you aint gonna find a better group of folks...anywhere! These are more than plant sharing buddies here, they are caring folks. And I know this group pretty good too. That was a pretty rotten thing to say...tisk tisk tisk
Was going to stay out of this one but just can't keep my mouth shut.
Will put it this way,Cyrdpast. I don't know where I would be if it weren't for Dave's Garden. Everyone here are really great and very helpful; and for me, well, I have learned so much and have made so many friends that I wouldn't have normally made and I only have been here since April. Everyone has their own opinion about things, but believe me, if you can dish it out then you had better be able to take it. Give this place a chance and get off your high horse and get better acquaintd and I'm sure in due time you will learn to love this place as much as the rest of us do. You wanted replies to your threads, well baby, you got em now.
Dave, I'm sorry, but I feel I needed to stick up for this site as well as the gardeners on here. I just can't sit back and have someone run down Dave's Garden when it is the best around. Some people just don't know a good thing when they see it.
I apologize to everyone here, but I will defend what I believe in, and anyone and everyone here at Dave's Garden.
